I understand that, but you can't get rid of the sanctioning bodies, ring belt and linear history.

    WBA+WBC = linear.

that can happen and will happen but I dont think its something that should ever be discredited. Lineage is a good thing. Too many titles is a shitty thing.

Larry Merchant can be dip**** but can also be hilarious and a I'm never shocked to find myself agreeing with him once in awhile.

-i dont wanna get rico on y'all asses but
tito's chin:think, i dont get it people repeat that he had an iron chin and the back up is that he was only stopped once in a career...

    -paquiao's handspeed

    -punchstats :fire

but i'm not sure about your reasoning of trainers being given too much respect, trainers are producers the boxer is the product....alot of things have to do with trainers. anyone can teach somone how to jab move and box in general but that doesnt result in a prizefighter, i think buddy got lucky that he was training some good talent and got them to a certain level but then.

most here feel that banks would of been able to at least lasted the distance in his fight with adamek if manny was in his corner

naz without ingle was a clear sign that he didn know ow to train or prepare himself.

oscar de la hoya with mayweather showed that a boxer can change direction, oscar was able to shoulder roll (but clearly didnt know how to use it against vargas:lol:) and also throw lead right hands.

think of it like producers are to mc's, when they have a good producer the mc's sound better in general...

I agree, and I also personally hold a lot of respect for the Ring Belt. It's not too often that the fighter holding "it" is not the cream of the crop (per weight division of course).

This is a good point....especially on ESB. You will see some very respectable posters sometimes using them to back up a particular argument, and then in another thread on the same damn day, you'll see them talk about how they are a useless tool for determining a fight.:yep

In many cases, winning multiple alphabet belts at different weights...or simply wininning just one for that matter.

    Stepping up a division.

Re. lineage. Conversely I would say it doesn't get enough respect. Recognition and support of scandalous alphabet bodies weakens it.

1 The Ring title is the only (relatively) credible title out there.

2 Linear titles tell you who the REAL champ is, no Linear title, no champ

    3 The WBC gets respect?

4 Some trainers are better than others

5 P4P status and ranking, I see your point

6 Larry Merchant = Bad Joke
