He gassed because the realization his worst nightmare was about to become reality made him burn up a lot of nervous energy. Fury beat him like a dog in his own yard and he knew he was powerless to do anything about it.
I could not agree MORE. It is fan-atical bias & nonsense to approve whataver "your" guy does to win. Romanticized, dishonorable Twaddle that those who cheat & try to hurt or disable men with methods that would finish them somehow are "gritty", "tough", have a greater "Will to Win"... IF you wanna test if you are really tough, RISK losing or being disabled by joining a no-hold-barred fighting league. Then see if you can avoid or handle losing your teeth, getting concussions from dirty shots, having your testicles pureed, how about risking blindness? You are *not* the better or tougher man when only you-or mainly you-resort to brutal or disabling or enough cheating to win tactics-& you likely could not win otherwise. And you have no idea if you could IF you had to deal with the same stupidity. At least all the hugging & clinching just prevents a fair fight. But that is also wrong & prevents us from knowing if the better man won. This content is protected say Fury used a glove without padding to beat Wilder, that would likely be decisive-then he should have the victories & titles stripped from him. But that story sounds suspicious. Things are a matter of degree, but headlocks & pulling a man down is exhausting & can make all the difference-especially if largely due to body fat you weigh a lot more. YES the referee is often negligent. But I just will never buy that this somehow absolves individual fighters of moral responsibility & pride: fight FAIRLY & see if youc an earn the money, title glory... Without stealing it through the shameless or unrecognized corruption of cheating.
There's veteran Tactics and there is excessive disqualification type behaviour such as Vladimir vs Povetkin and Ward vs Kessler .. I think we all expect a little Skulduggery and prison rules now and again and that's what Fury is prone to do but it's not excessive like the likes of Ali used to do.. so stop f****** moaning, Wilder had 3 opportunities knock him out and failed to do so.. I saw nothing really disqualification worthy in any of those fights from Fury, unlike many other past greats.. a bit of clinching and leaning is the norm, Lewis did it, watch the Tua fight.. it's when it's done excessively that's the problem.
