I don't understand what is wrong with a champion wanting to unify all the titles in his own division. Boxing fans should cheer for this. Boxing needs fighters like Golovkin. He's trying to achieve greatness in his era like Hopkins and Taylor. Most fighters in these days are cherrypicking their opponents and milking a paper title. Golovkin and Kovalev want to be undisputed champions.
:good:yep Yeah, it's very hard to unify especially when sanctioning bodies don't respect their own rules. People should appreciate more the huge effort these fighters are putting.:good
Nothing wrong with it. But, it can also lead to missed opportunities in building one's legacy overall. Kovalev is fine..he is in a semi deep division, with guys like Ward and Stevenson there. Those fights or some variation of (based on who wins or loses) will eventually get made. GGG is in a pickle though. MW is weak. And there are not really any fights on the horizon at MW that do much to boost his legacy. He will need to move up, which he seems unwilling to do against a live body.
Yeah I agree, all casual fans should get behind GGG. I prefer to focus my attention on boxers with at least one elite name on their record after 34 fights. Let me know when triple hype matches my criteria...
