"All roads lead through Floyd Mayweather. I'm keeping the sport alive."

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Jacory Harris, Jan 27, 2010.

  1. I don't blame floyd for sayin this ****. Its how you ****ing get paid. For the longest time all roads lead through De La Hoya, and he wasn't even in his prime and he lost all of his biggest fights. Yet, all roads still lead through him and morons gave their money to see that fraud fight. There wasn't as much backlash for him as it was for floyd. Once again, im not sayin anyone should agree with floyd or like him; but he is receiving more backlash than others would because people are racist against blacks:deal.

Then don't read my posts. It's the truth...look at politics, look at anything in life. People are happy letting others dictate the way things are.

When they act like they want to fight him....you gotta understand Floyd is the man period...no one would want to admit it but it is what it is if you want to fight him you have to become a somebody.

You want him to fight nobody's for legacy, but when he makes them look like nobody then you'll say that's not his legacy he fought nobody's.

He fights big names and champions not just anybody. Who was Antonio Margarito before he fougth Cotto...who was Cotto before he fought Zab Judah...Shane and Floyd have been avoiding each other....Clottey is still a nobody...Manny Pac just got into the picture...Paul Williams is a nobody!!!!

They gotta get their status up....you know Floyd since 130 bronze medal in the olympics hasn't lost a fight since...a champion in 5 different divisions a brilliant defensive fighter who hasn't taken really any damage in his career.

Was the most avoided fighter coming up in weight! Tszyu wanted no part of Floyd neither did Frietas or Casamayora or Hamed Mosley skipped 140 entirely but because of the hate and the lack of people who really followed his career before he became an ******* to gain attention instead of being recognized for his tremendous skills and getting paid just based off of that he had to do what...bring you the best thing sinc slice bread to boxing and that's 24/7.

    Give dude his props...

replace floyd with manny and you got it:good

not wrong here. most people wanted nothing to do with floyd before he came to 140. SOME did but a fight with morales or hamed was unfeasible

Jacory stick to football and just make sure miami wins the national championship next year and leave boxing for the experts. Mayweather aint keep **** alive, he doesnt have a big enough fan base to sell a PPV fight by himself. It depends on his opponent and watch when he fights Mosley that that fight wont sell ****. Latin fighters no matter what weight class can bring in the money and the fans. Just ask michael carbajal and finito lopez. Both became millionares at flyweight. Sorry to say it but american boxers no matter how good they are they dont bring in the fans. The only exception is on the heavyweight division.

haha almost every pound for pounder inherits the title. for me, manny's resume and skill set is better than mayweather's at this time. h2h floyd kills him but manny has been more impressive against better opposition in, let's say his most recent 3 fights than floyd has.

People will not take long to forget floyd. He is without doubt a great fighter but his defensive style can often lead to his fights being boring.

I'm always surprised to hear that...

To me, only ONE fight was boring: Baldomir.

Just pointing out the fact that Floyd has done a very good job promoting this idea that he was the gold standard in boxing. Most casual fans bought into this idea without question. Casual fans just figured that Floyd's claim was legitimate because DLH chose him as an opponent. Without the DLH fight, Floyd is still only getting decent PPV numbers. Look at his preceding PPV numbers...not very good.

Floyd retires at the height of his popularity, comes back to give fight fans a fight (sparring session) they never wanted, and then proceeds to have his part in the tainting of boxing's current biggest star. Yeah boxing needs Floyd like it needs 15 PPV's per year, more weight divisions and crappier undercards. :bart
