I use my Nike free for resistance and I have a pair of Mizuno which I got when I went to a specialist shop for running, but I want a pair that are more multi-purpose so that I can just have the one pair if I decide to do circuits or resistance training in the one visit to the gym.I know I should use the Mizunos for proper running, but I'd like the option of jumping on the treadmill if I fancy without changing. Thinking about those Reebok zigzags, but sick of different shops telling me different things. Thanks for looking and I appreciate any advice.Budget is around £80 tops if I can keep it to that. Just starting to get sore feet when I do cardio without the running shoes, and I've wasted money on useless or inappropriate(for my feet anyway) trainers.
i used to suffer from shine splints so i used trainers with gapes or air bubbles in the sole to soften the impact for running,,not sure whats for sale knower days but i would spend about 8o quid for a good pair to last the miles ,,,for boxing use boxing boots or something light & flimsy
Your Nike Free's are transitional minimalist running shoes, so unless you're a big over or under pronator or a heel striker you could run in them and transition into minimalist running shoes which with their low heels should be suitable for resistance training. I am currently transitioning into minimalist running with a pair of Saucony Mirages. So far it's a little weird as you need to make adjustments to your running mechanics but so far it seems to be going OK. It's not effected my running times and I haven't had any injuries.
I'm sure they told me I was a heel striker at the running shop, but I do know they told me to get half a size bigger,so maybe not. The Nike free's are almost done.I used them for resistance because I assumed the light sole would be suitable. I've also had shin splints last year, but the biggest problem I've been having lately is very sore ankles, mostly from skipping.I've skipped for years and don't want to give up,but the ankles affect my whole training regime. Thanks for the advice guys.Appreciated.
Nike Barefoot Ride shoes are very light and has thin heels and soles. I use them for running, training, and boxing as well.
Just an update guys.Got Nike Vomero 7's a fortnight ago and they seem to be bang on so far. Might be down to the fact that I'm finally getting to a decent physio who's addressing what he says are pretty chronic problems though.Didn't know my ankle problems were originating from my back.
