What do Usyk, Inoue, Crawford, Beterbiev, Bivol, etc. All have in common? They are basically nerds. Go to bed early, wake up early, train hard, barely drink alcohol or any at all, stay out of the club, family men, etc. You won't see these guys hitting the bottle and chasing women all hours of the night. Cant stay on top for long if you dont live the life. I still remember how fast Kovalev fell off (great fighter in his prime though) after he started hitting the bottle hard. Guys like bigger Charlo, Spence etc. should have taken notice. Crawford lives the life and Spence doesnt. Makes a big difference.
Yep it's the same in all sports, you used to finish training and go to the pub in some sports back in the 80's or earlier and these were paid pro's but now with the amount of money that can be earned, the level of competition is so high that if you really want to reach the pinnacle of any major sport you have to live the life of a pro athlete. You have to train hard, eat right, even recovery is now a science that athletes take very seriously with all kinds of methods to push and maximise recovery. Just so they can train even harder and push themselves physically to a point athletes from past era's simply could not due to lack of knowledge and technology at the time.
