I called for this fight ages ago (as Brummy). Why should Groves fight a guy he's beat by KO? I get the 'kenny came in late' etc argument but for me Degale v Anderson would be a better fight and would mean a damn site more for Degale than any fight on the domestic scene than any other bar Groves or Magee. Degale is fighting nobodies for his wba trinket when he could be learning against Anderson. It's a style that would suit him too.

 

Degale probably thinks he is above this fight but he needs to be brought back down to reality and start making some good decisions. I'm the last to jump on the trainer band waggon but I really do wonder if Macdonald is the right fit.

This is unintentionally offensive to macdonald but I fear he is a bit of a cheerleader yes man with degale. There is no doubt that he is a top conditioner I just think Degale needs to be with someone that tells him to shut up occasionally and stops telling him he is the best fighter in the world. James needs to be told he could be good but he is a long way off yet!!!

 

Agree with that in terms of change or trainer and his ability. I personally believe his level is Domestic/European at best. He likes to fight one way only and is very set in his ways. Groves adapts better and is not scared of sparring or fighting the top fighters of the division i.e he sparred Dirrell where as Degale avoided sparring Froch.

I would be genuinely scared for him if he fought Froch for real. And considering he said he will become a world champ he will have to go through your Froch's of this world to get there. It wont happen for him at any time imho unless he is content with becoming WBA 'interim' or 'ordinary' champion cos **** know's why he is trying to get ranked by an organisation who's champion is Andre Ward.
