First I thought that I'm gonna make another thread on Hopkins v.s. Calzaghe but now I'm giving up since the TS told me that majority of voters thought that Calzaghe won the fight which is exactly what I thought.:happy

    not even remotely similar fights

calzaghe landed more and cleaner punches - it doesn't have to be either/or. he landed a lot of cuffs and had a lot blocked as well, but b-hop didn't do nearly enough especially in the second half of the fight.

martinez-williams was a draw for me, both fighters put it on the line and it was too close to call.

Martinez and Hopkins clearly won those fights.

In boxing there is brawling and actual boxing, unfortunately in a close fight its dependent on which style the judges prefer, both fights were close so could go either way

i had williams winning that fight by maybe 1 or 2 points. very close, but its not as if his work rate was hitting thin air, he was all over marravilla at times and although sergio's work was tidier, it just wasn't enough to win the fight on the cards in my view.

as for hop and calzaghe i only ever watched the fight once (on the night) and i thought hopkins had just nipped it before they read the scorecards.
my reasoning for that (in relation to the williams/marravilla fight) was hopkins' counters were big, solid shots that were eye catching and from what i can remember, were swaying my mind towards hopkins on the night. joe's workrate was superior but there was alot of flurries going nowhere i recall.

  6. Poll option:

The fight could of went either way

Utterly appalling grammar. Back to school you go.:rofl:oops::barf:dead

Well, try this then; I'm neither a Calzaghe fan nor a Hopkins hater. I actually like Hopkins, but unlike some of you over here I do like to live in a real world... Hopkins lost, get over it... OHHH, hold on, hold on.... And Calzaghe wasn't even close to his prime either.... for those of u that love to play that card w/Hops!!! CALZAGHE WON!

BTW, Martinez won a close one too!

Hopkins had two problems in that fight :

    Low workrate

and Bad acting ..Had Hopkins kept figting after the KD I don't even think it be up for debate .
