I am saying you are ignorant because you cling to the belief that boxing in the olden days was better than nowdays and that olden day fighters are better than the fighters of today, which is ignorant because boxing has advanced quite a lot since the olden days.

You are clearly one of the boxing ''fans'' who are oldies and belief everything was so much better ''back in the day''.

 

The Canelo Corporation can honestly beat any fighter on the cards that can't get the KO or many KDs. He's the perfect fit for this model of corruption given he has a good chin and excellent defence, so has an excellent chance of getting to the finish line.

A great way to see this process in real time is to watch the DAZN coverage of the Kovalev fight where the commentary scorer is just giving Canelo rounds for no apparent reason, when Canelo is barely throwing or landing. Canelo rounds just start 'happening'. It's almost as though the scorer flicked a switch after the early rounds and realised Canelo had to start getting his tally. It was a very blatant example of what everybody knows is going on.

Question is if Canelo would beat those specific fighters. My answer is no he would not, nothing to do with old vs new, he’s just not good enough to beat RJJ, Ward, Toney, Hopkins and Hagler. The last one is from another thread but my point still stands.

All this “Canelo is a monster” is comming after carefully managed 2-3 year stretch of his career where he has shown 0 ability to hang with ATG’s.
Old Golovkin beat him, fight against Smith was a joke, fight against Kovalev was a spit in everyone’s face (from Kova’s side too), yet everyone acts like these things elevate him to the level of greats. It does not.

I’ve said it before, Canelo is an excellent fighter, tough SOB and his head is in the right place but he’s not shown anything that would indicate that he’s anywhere near ATG level. On top of that, his record stinks of corruption, cheating and cherry picking.

You hate on one of the best current fighters of today (Canelo) whereas I hate on the olden day frauds of the past (James Toney, Joe Walcott, Jack Dempsey, Holmes, Duran, Kid choclate, Chavez, Harry Greb etc).

 

I think he can beat Toney and BHOP. RJJ too fast hits too hard. He did have that china well hidden tho. So Canelo would have punchers chance. Who cares about Joe and Ward. Fukn boring ass fighters.
