According to some Boxing fans Bob Arum is nothing short of Lucifer in the flesh and he's the reason for everything undesirable in Boxing. In all seriousness, Bob Arum has nothing to do with fighters doping, he's a promoter not a strength/conditioning coach and he damn sure isn't the conscience of these fighters convincing them to cheat the rules. Bob Arum losses millions of dollars if he promotes a fight and then one of the guys in his main event tests positive and then the whole card gets cancelled, why would he encourage doping. Arum was just siding with his fighter, as he should, and making sure Manny wasn't caving to every demand of Floyd Mayweather. I understand that a lot of fans don't like Arum and he's an easy scapegoat, but its unfair to blame him for guys doping considering the fact that Peterson and Berto aren't Top Rank fighters. It's time for to stop blaming Bob Arum everything and start handing over more accountability to these fighters. At the end of the day they aren't 12 year old kids, their grown men who can make decisions for themselves.
Yep, that's why Arum won't let hs fighters undertake extra testing and regularly hosts fights in Texas where everyone knows there is no such thing as drug testing. Chavez is a proven drug cheat, question marks around Donaire is well now. People say floyd cycles off his peds, well Manny fought twice in Texas in 2010 and sure as hell wasn't tested. :good :yep
I see Bob Arum as more than "just a promoter", I see him as a greedy nasty old man, who would kill his mom for a ****ing dollar... He's a Con Artists, and he has been investigated by the FBI for good reasons, but he is intelligent and knows loop holes... His main priority is expoiting fighters for his personal gain, and taking advantage of fans as well. He is suspected of rigging fights, cover ups, and ripping fighters off...All with legitamate reasons... So he's more than, "just a promoter" doing his job.
