With this now being such widespread opinion, it makes the chances of the fight actually happening at 147 - the only place Cotto really has a chance - far greater
I'd rather give credit to cotto if he concede and fight pac at a catchweight.. Without catchweight - 60/40 cotto 144-145 catchweight - 50/50 at the end of the day, all depends on pacman if he wants a catchweight or not..
Hopkins is 44 years old so he has earned the right to fight at a catchweight from here on in. If Pacquiao is the all time great so many people say he is, then he should move up and fight the champions at their fighting weight. Henry Armstrong moved up and won titles with no catchweights. Is Pacquiao an all time great, or a guy who happens to be lucky enough to be defeating guys past their primes (Marquez not withstanding) and guys who are shot?
the only problem i have with catch weight fight is that pac can fight at 147 we have seen it so why do you want to fight a welter at 144 or 143? the omly explanation is that they want to drain cotto abit to give themself an advantage but if you are the p4p king you would you want an advantage go up2 147 kick cotto's ass make a statement and call out pbf but the problem is if he does fight at 147 pbf would want to fight pac at 147 and pac camp wouldnt want that
why are boxing fans so picky now? are these catch-weights a natural set of numbers that if a person's body does not make will automatically make them weak and drained? fact is, even if you will do the fight at the exact standard weight limits, you cannot avoid being drained. what's important here is if two fighter's agreed to fight at a certain catch-weight, it means they knew that their body can handle that weight. they could say no during negotiations if they can't.
