All this talk about Canelo vs. Mayweather... WTF has Canelo done

He has a large fanbase and mexicans love him.

 

He showed some masterful defense when he escaped MSG unharmed

 

This is my point exactly.

He hasn't done anything to be merited a fight with the best fighter in the sport.

If the fight gets signed watch quickly how everyone changes their tune and start demeaning the fight. After Floyd beats him, the ridicule will continue... I can hear the excuses now. "Mayweather cherry picked the easiest belt holder at JMW - he needs to fight Trout", "Mayweather beat someone that hasn't fought a single worthy contender" etc...

Absolutely nothing. Canelo is a hype job of the highest order. Golden Boy is trying to cash him out. Nothing less, nothing more.

He's done a lot what are you talking about. He's beaten Matthew Hatton (beat in the ring and on the scales), he's beaten Cintron, he's beaten Baldomir, he's beaten Mosely, and he's recently beaten the junior welterweight Lopez. If that doesn't deserve a shot at the big times, I don't know what will.
