I've been listening to this old tournament and getting a real kick out of it .. my favorite parts are actual interviews with famous trainers, managers and fighters offering their opinions and thoughts .. lots of Louis, Marciano , Jack Sharkey , Joe Walcott, Jimmy Braddock and even Jess Willard talking ... one clip had Jack Kearns son, himself a boxing guy , talk first hand about his father's thoughts on Jack Johnson .. he gave a pretty detailed segment detailing how his father , Jack Kearns senior, told him that far and away that Johnson had more intellect and natural ability than any fighter he ever saw .. he said that Johnson has the skills and instincts to develop and have dominated much later generations .. I found that specific observation very interesting as we often discuss all time match ups and my point is not what styles in an old vs new play out but what fighters had the skills to adjust given time .. Jr said without question that his father was a huge believer in Jack Johnson as a fighter and a talent ..
