atsch Duran overrated? Go watch some footage of Duran at LW. What about when he moved up to WW and beat SRL? That's ridiculous Also Hagler would beat Hopkins, and he'd knock Roy Jones out at MW.
roy was even faster and a harder punches and 100 % had better reflexes than ray or anybody yet he losses to hagler who lost to sugar ray :!:atsch
Which fights at MW are you basing Roy's superiority on? He did not look unbeatable against either Castro or Hopkins, and his only other significant win was a one punch KO of Thomas Tate. Roy didn't establish himself as a great fighter until he moved to 168. He was clearly a stronger fighter at 168, and was able to translate his talent into exceptional performances. He showed glimpes of that at middle, but not consistently.
roy had 20 KO's in his first 21 fights, what the heck you talking about him not looking unbeatable. you could see in his very pro debut what kind of superior speed and atletic ability he had. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SpZgqLwRj0[/ame] this damn thread is not about establish anything, its about who looked the best. roy established nothing much at super middleweight, but looked vs pazienza like a alien from another planet, nobody has ever looked better at sm than him in that fight, closest to invincible, **** achievmants.
Indeed, the thread is about who looked the best, which makes it strange to illustrate how good Roy looked at MW by talking about the Paziena fight :huh A useful starting point for how Roy looked at the weight is to view his most significant fights. Roy certainly didn't look unbeatable against Castro and Hopkins, who were the two best fighters he faced at MW. This leaves one and a bit rounds against Thomas Tate to come to a conclusion that Roy was unbeatable at 160, which seems a bit bizarre. Hagler looked every bit as devastating against Willie Monroe, who was a better fighter than Tate, without even considering his signature performance against Hearns.
dman he looked always unbeatable. @154, at middleweight.... hopkins was also a top boxer back than emergin as a strong middleweight and yet he had not much of a chance vs jones who had problems with one arm. jones was to athletic and fast for barely anybody at middleweight, no matter how many fights he had. the reason I brought the pazienza fight into conversation was a example that you dont need much fights to showcase how you build. like I said its not about achievmants.

final update. I have been looking up vids of legends like holyfield and many others and this will be the final time me ranking who looked the best. if I am not sure than I put a question mark, because a good example like cruiserweight division realy showcases no clear #1. haye lack of technic, yet he looked like a unbeatable destroyer in some fight, just because he has with no doubt one if not the most power at cruiserweight ever. holyfield lack of power, but excellant footwork and well rounded technic made him also a strong case. i like to pick fighters that actually competed in that division and cleared out a few HOF'ers or ATG's at the same time. Not just beat aload of good fighters or fighters there supposed to beat. And i think you'll find noone is unbeatable. SRL at welter looked as close to unbeatable as you can get and even he got beat.
just because I dont put old timers in every category old timers often slow and wide open, best example was henry armstrong, he wasnt slow, he was a hard puncher, but dude was open all the time, he ran into his opponents wide open, no defence at his head at all, punching a lot, which means being open a lot, but sure, somebody like Hearns, Sugar Ray Leonard or even a game combination puncher like Cotto wouldnt have taken advantage.
because he forced himself into a style that wasnt his. sr leonard in his natural style at his best weight in with no doubt nearly unbeatable.
I am a fan too and just accept my choice. also prime vargas wasn't like the easiest opponent. but I wouldnt batter people who have collum or hearns at 1.
