All Time Flyweight Tournament Final: Fighting Harada vs Pascual Perez

i think I'm gonna go for Perez as well. i don't think Harada was the finished article at flyweight, he was still pretty green. I picked Peter Kane to beat him in an earlier round for the same reasons. I can see Harada throwing everything at him but Perez getting to him late. Perez' experience making the difference. Perez by late stoppage.

 

Hmmm, I think I'm going to go for Perez to come from far behind to squeeze out a close decision.

I see Harada outboxing Perez early on and actually cruising for the first 5/6 rounds. But although Harada has the chin to take Perez' punches....they eventually take there toll and slow him down, allowing Perez to control the fight in the championship rounds.

A true "game of 2 halves" with Perez just getting the nod.

 

Perez by a close decision. They were both tremendous fighters. Harada must have been something special to have defeated Eder Jofre twice. Perez was an awesome flyweight dominating the division during the 1950's. This would have been a fight worth paying good bucks to see.

 

As much as I like Harada, my gut tells me Perez would have most likely won and maybe even by kayo. Harada was a real buzzsaw of activity as a fly and fought at a tremendous pace, but as already mentioned he wasn`t yet the finished article yet and tended to get a bit too wild with his punches at times leaving himself open in the process. Jose Medel got him out of there in their first fight by landing a peach of a counter right hand square on the point of Harada`s chin as he was wailing away with both fists with little regard to defense. My gut tells me Perez would have stood a very good chance of landing a similar punch to turn the tide of the fight and stop Masahiko late in the fight while possibly behind on the cards. Would have been a great fight though and Harada is a very live underdog, but at his best Perez would have most likely prevailed.

Im a little shattered I couldnt say my piece on this one..Ive seen only highlights of Perez and its not enough to make a proper call on this one.

Really gonna have to remedy that soon..Anyone who is beating Harada from the Kingpetch fights has to be pretty good.

Been a good tourney Pea...Always something to learn about fighters in these lower weights.
