No I wasn't suggesting that you thought differently, just that Zapata's handlers should've been clever enough to keep him away. Sadly that is rarely the case.

Moon vs Khaosai would be a war! I'll stay on topic.....well, I'll leave the thread

Ohba would pose an interesting challenge. Actually I cannot envision how the fight would go. But Chang's a tough match-up for any flyweight because there is no real formula to beat him. He'd overwhelm technical boxers like Zapata and run circles around slow, heavy-fisted guys like Torres.

I think the best comparison is Duran without power. The Armstrong and Pryor comparisons are a bit off, because Chang had superlative defense and set-up his shots more--whereas Armstrong and Pryor just windmill-ed their punches.

Yeh, a young Duran is the perfect comparison. He had that intuitive defensive skills, I'd say Chang was slightly more of an all-out swarmer at times, than Duran ever was.

Just re-thinking of this match up, Oguma was pretty textbook and Ohashi was able to catch Chang (albeit an older and slower Chang) and wobble him quite a lot with the precise shots down the middle. Does anyone think Oguma's crisp shots might be able to keep Chang off or at least impede his stampedes?

Chang was completely shot by the Ohashi fight, so I don't think that's indicative of much. And in addition to his rapid physical decline, he was really in no emotional state to fight because of family problems (his wife ran with his money, to summarize a long, convoluted story). The last time we saw anything resembling a prime Chang was the 3rd and the final Torres fight--even then he was noticeably slower.

I think Oguma is competely over-matched here.

    Again, sorry to bump.

First and foremost, I am cringing at my attempts to get a grip on Chang's style. Painful stuff.

Further to Greg Paterson, the legend, I reckon Chang beats Ohba handily.
