Bowe was a great inside fighter & in his prime could hang with anyone. That short right hand from Louis just swings it his way for me.

Absolute peak condition I will take bowe. He is capable of fighting both inside and outside effectively and he certainly isn't getting knocked out

Best for best Bowe gets hit too much to beat Louis. Too many chances for the brown bomber here.

Think Louis in his prime would have been too small, think it may have been like how Holyfield went in the 1st fight. Do really well and test the bigger guy but ultimately the size, strength and extra power just takes it for me.

Louis was to flat footed. Bowe would be in the infight very soon. Bowe by KO.

I used to be in the camp that said old school HW's were too small, but they did not lift weights then. If Bowe fought Louis then he would have weighed only a little more than Louis had they fought in Joe's heyday.
Contrastingly Louis would have easily been 225+ if he were fighting today.
The size issue seems silly when you figure in weight training.
Louis was a more explosive Puncher, but maybe a tad more vulnerable to being knocked down. So I'm undecided.
Bowe had a very short prime though, and if this was a series, Louis like Holyfield would have likely beat Bowe at least once due to his conditioning issues.

Bowe destroys Louis. Louis is too small and too weak to hang with modern day SHWs and no, Baer and Carnera are no modern day SHWs.

    Louis all day.

I would say I'm shocked by the high number of Bowe votes, but I actually expect all ESB polls to favor the incorrect or less-likely-to-be-correct option.

I think Joe Louis is the best heavyweight in history and I don't like Bowe, but H2H Bowe wins imo. Probably with some kind of controversy as usual in Bowe fights.
