Canzoneri and Leonard are interchangable between 10 and 20. Personally, I normally have Canzoneri ahead. Monzon between 25-35.

I'm going to surprise a few people her and put Leonard at the top.

I think Canzoneri has the wins (Berg,Chocolate) to edge out Monzon (Napoles,Benvenuti,Griffith) but not by much.

The fact Ray has the four year resume says more about what he achieved in such a short time IMO rather than detracts.

    All about opinions though.
And you have to wonder how much better Canzoneri would be without the rigours of fighting so many times back then.

Canzoneri would be worse off without his hectic schedule, as all boxers are when ranking them for 'greatness' IMO.

    Canzoneri's resume is STACKED.

Though I do agree with him in regards to SRL. Who else is in your top 20 with only 40 ****in' fights? That's irate, and really shouldn't be feasible but Leonard went for the jugular and in a big hurry. I know Stonehands uses it as a big knock against him despite his qualfications. In no way does Monzon have a better record than Leonard. I don't know that he even beat more contenders with 60+ more bouts.

What you guys fail to appreciate is how much more devastating Canzoneri was than Leonard or Monzon. Pretty much everyone he fought is either dead or worse. You'll find that's less and less so as you go through later and later fighters since him.

On a serious note, Canzoneri could easily be ahead. I wouldn't argue that. I have them both in the Top 15.

Monzon is continually underated around here.

87 wins, 3 losses, 9 draws. Undefeated from 1964 until he retired in 1977. WBA & WBC world title holder 1970 to 1977, and retired still holding both. Enough said.

Nice to see a thread that does Monzon justice :good

Like many others including Ali, Leonard and Calzaghe; Monzon seems to attract more than his share of no-nothings and trolls who try in vain to detract from his achievements.
