I think Pep embarasses Pacquiao. There are better choices in my opinion.

Years are too far apart to give a legitimate accurate prediction.

1- Muhammad Ali, surprisingly close UD. Lennox Lewis would trouble Ali with his jab and strength, maybe even knocking him down with one of his sneaky left hooks, but Ali's stamina and handspeed would get him a decision

2- Ezzard Charles; too much power and speed, I suspect. Another close UD.

3- I'd give Hagler better chances at beating Monzon. Hopkins would find Monzon to be too strong; also the outside is the wrong place to be with Monzon; plus I don't think Hopkins ever had the workrate to take enough rounds off Monzon.

4- Robinson, surprisingly tough fight. I think he'd find Napoles difficult but nothing he couldn't handle.

    5- Whitaker; a styles-thing.

    6- I hate to say it, but I favour Pac-man. Again, a styles-thing.

7- No idea. I'll say draw out of fairness.

8- Jimmy Wilde. I'd pick him, at his best, to beat almost anyone at flyweight.

You sure are fun PugilisticPower. Your skills at debating against the idea of debating sure make a debate forum interesting.

I considered Sanchez; Pacquiao is currently hot and I think rates higher all time for me now than these other guys. I agree that he loses a wide UD though.

Where we disagree - I have Ali to beat Lewis, Langford to beat Charles, Duran to beat Whitaker, though I accept all of these are close.

I think I'm picking peak Wolgast to beat peak Wilde.

I believe Roy Jones Jr was a better light-heavyweight than Ezzard Charles, and that Marvin Hagler was a marginally better middleweight than Bernard Hopkins, but the rest of your selections seem more or less sound to me. Of your choices I'd go for:
ALI, CHARLES, MONZON, ROBINSON, DURAN, PACQUIAO (I know many will disagree with that one, but think of how explosive Manny would be v Pep, surely too much firepower), JOFRE and WILDE (though Benny Lynch from my own native Scotland would have beaten both!).

So that's 5-3 to the Rest Of The World in my opinion, but would've been 4-4 if you included Jones Jr (Monzon would most likely have got a decision over Hagler I think).

The last one may be true, just a good thing you didn't put someone like Mark Johnson up against Wilde.

Don't start now....Wolgast sounds lightning fast, very hard to catch and rather unpredictable. That all suits against Wilde, got to avoid the punches.

    Wilde KO9 Johnson.

Appart from at Fly and at Bantam, any major changes you would make to either team?

And how exactly do you defend that?

Pacquiao's forward attack would put him at a balance issue with Pep, as Pep had some of the best(if not the best) lateral movement and footwork ever. I think it'd be a boxing clinic. And as far as firepower, Sandy Saddler was rated the 5th greatest puncher of all time, and a past prime version of Pep(post plane crash) was able to beat him in their second meeting by wide scores, and was normally outboxing him prior to the stoppages in their 3rd and 4th bouts.

    Maybe Wilde, definitely not Jofre.

You mean aside from Feather and Fly?

Hagler over Hopkins. Holmes would have a better shot at Lennox than Ali, style-wise he's also probably more formidable head to head.
