Eat some hay. You've created a thread for people to believe they're smart by predicting something they cannot apply any real knowledge to, only "Oh, I believe" - this is no worse than a thread on religion attempting to proclaim which god is better. You would have had a better thread if you took the last 15 years. USA HW: Mike Tyson or Holyfield (1995-1999) vs Lennox Lewis (1999-2001) SMW/LHW: Roy Jones Jr (1998) vs Joe Calzaghe (2001) MW: Bernard Hopkins (2001) vs Joe Calzaghe (2001) WW: Oscar De La Hoya (1999) vs Miguel Cotto (2008) LW: Pernell Whittaker (1993) vs Floyd Mayweather Jr (2002) So on and so on. My viewpoint HW - Lewis SMW/LHW - Roy Jones Jr MW - Calzaghe WW - De La Hoya LW - Whittaker USA win (to that weightclass, I wasn't a fan of weightclasses lower than LW)
I think there is so little between Hagler and Hopkins head to head it tends to come down to who would shade that one, and I pick Hopkins. Your Holmes over Ali pick is cheating, no matchmaking, just each respective teams #1. You think Holmes should be ranked ahead of Ali head to head? You wouldn't be alone in holding that view, though I think it's ****ing bull**** with a capital ****.
I love that we've got more votes for the US than the Rest of the World but only one analyis detailing a US win...
Heavy: Ali Lightheavy: Langford is greater, but naturally smaller than Charles. tough call, but I'd pick Charles. Middle: Monzon. Another tough fight to call. Welter: Robinson Light: Duran. Pernell's my #8 all-time, but Duran was as complete a fighter as i have ever seen. Just because you move and box doesn't mean you beat a prime Duran, he stopped DeJesus and Buchanan to excellent boxers. It was also close on the cards before he quit in the 2nd fight, and he did beat him in the 1st fight. Feather: Put Armstrong for U.S and Arguello for rest of world. Pep is definetly greater, but could not hurt Pac at all, who could match his speed, and possibly overwhelm Pep. I think it's a bad styles match up for Pep, but i'd still go with him by decision. Bantam: Jofre Fly: Wilde It's split according to me, 4-4.
HEAVYWEIGHT:..........Muhammad Ali > Lennox Lewis LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT:.Ezzard Charles > Sam Langford MIDDLEWEIGHT:..........Carlos Monzon > Bernard Hopkins WELTERWEIGHT:.........Ray Robinson > Jose Napoles LIGHTWEIGHT:............Pernell Whitaker > Roberto Duran FEATHERWEIGHT:........Manny Pacquiao > Willie Pep BANTAMWEIGHT:.........Eder Jofre > Orlando Canizales FLYWEIGHT:...............Jimmy Wilde Draw Midget Wolgast (Not sure)
i think pea beats duran at 135 i think it would've looked like duran's worst moments in duran-leonard 2, where he was lunging wildly and missing, except it would last for the duration of the entire fight
My mistake, also I had two American's fighting instead of an American vs RoW LW - fine, lets reverse it. Floyd Mayweather Jr of 2002 vs Manny Pacquaio of 2008. Floyd. America still win. :yep
Nothing unreasonable here. Nobody has Napoles to beat Robinson I notice, what's the deal? Robinson just that bit to good, or is this styles?
Robinson has the combination punching, speed, and power. I'd assume this would turn into a hell of a fight, with Robinson opening up a cut at some point over 15. Skill-wise it's an interesting fight.
Whilst I think it's the obvious pick and probably the right one, I wouldn't consider picking Napoles to beat Robinson ludicrous.
