    It's a ****ing cliche, I know, yet it's a cliche because it's true.

A beats B who beat C does not mean A beats C. That's always held true in this sport.

Pavlik couldn't deal with the slick movement, the speed, and the experience of Hopkins. Yet he destroyed Miranda, and was able to beat Taylor.. and why? Because Taylor has speed, but he's not crafty like Hopkins, he's pretty darn conventional in approach, yet Taylor's style proved tricky to Hopkins.

This just reinfornces the old cliche.

Styles will always make fights. Just because Pavlik lost to Hopkins, does not mean that Calzaghe beats him, nor does it mean that Abraham beats him, nor does it mean that Pavlik is a **** fighter.

Was he exposed? Of course, every fighter is too some extend when they lose, but what was exposed: That Kelly at the time didn't have an answer for a slick physical boxer with speed.

It has no bearing how he'd do against a brawler, or a boxer-puncher, etc.

It also doesn't mean that Hopkins could re-match Taylor and not lose again.

Just like all the Paul Williams fans who think that because Margarito beat Cotto, Williams can do it as well and no size wont ****ing matter just look at how Quintana clearly outboxed Williams despite his height.

You know what wins fights too ? Experience !!!

Do you still delusional Pavlik fans really think that if 43 yr old Hopkins can beat Kelly to the punch with handspeed Joe Calzaghe can't ?

Lets also remember that the same Hopkins that fought Kelly also recently lost to Joe prior to that he had 2 wins over a level fighters !

Kelly's 1 2 style will be easy pickens for Joe as well just like Hopkins ..

Not being a sucker for the right hand like that. Joe is no Bhop. Pavlik will land on him with his best punch. That WILL happen. Joe is not this guy that cant be hit. He gets cracked often.

    Great post.

I still think Calzaghe and AA beat Pavlik but i have thought that for a long time, not just since the Hopkins fight.

However Pavlik was not "exposed" and he is not a "bum" like some people are saying. He is still a very good fighter with a lot to offer the sport he was just beaten stylistically.

Good thing you agree... only problem you think Hopkins lost to Calzaghe due to overtraining... :patsch Don't you think Calzaghe's STYLE (adaptability, punch output, stamina, slick moves) has anything to do to BHop's loss?

Bhop did not beat Pavlik with just hand speed. He neutralized the right hand first by throwing left hooks to the head and body whenever Pavlik even thought about throwing. Bhop fought a mental fight. Calzaghe just goes in and fights. Bhop used his crafty lateral foot work. Calzaghe does not have lateral foot work and just bounces in and out. Pavlik can time that ****. But that side to side movement like Bhop uses is not what the **** calzaghe does.

Even before last night I thought Calzaghe had the style to beat Pavlik. Styles make fights and last night didn't show anything regarding how Pavlik would do against Calzaghe other than he's clearly not the most adaptable fighter and may have trouble figuring Calzaghe out.

Bad example. Williams will beat the **** outta Cotto. Who can't deal with Williams size, his workrate, his stamina or his power. Williams probably stops Cotto late.

Thats what the **** he said. He trained less and came out with more energy this fight. Pavlik did not slow down *******. He kept coming. I tend to believe bhop.

You shouldn't believe what boxers say of their losses.

    "I broke my back"
