As usual Green is a good talker but he's yet to do anything.

That statement popped an eyebrow for me.

He also kind of indirectly discredited the win over Kessler by saying Mikkel should have never been pegged as a favorite to begin with, and saying that he himself picked Kessler to win but after a few rounds of seeing how Kessler reacted to the style Ward used changed his mind and decided a Ward win was inevitable...but more for the style he was using than his skill.

It strikes me that he really does lack respect for Ward, as opposed to this just being the usual bluster you hear from fighters.

That could lead to him underestimating Andre Ward and rushing into battle overconfident (especially if he has a dominant tune-up qualifying performance against Bika), which IMO could be very, very dangerous for Green. "Illness" or not, when you've lost rounds to Edison Miranda you don't want to underestimate Andre Ward.

Green is a joke, he got his ass handed to him by Miranda.

You make some interesting points here.

Personally, I think Ward will beat Green, but in fairness to Green, I view Ward as the real deal and I don't envision anyone beating him from 168-down anytime soon.

I think Ward's simply a cut above Green.

I thought the most telling part about the ward comment was the fact that after he made a bold claim like that he really didn't back it up but explaining anything about why he thought Ward wouldn't be a problem or why he had been "wanting" this fight for a long time. Personally, i think this wasn't anything more then bluster from Green. I mean lets not forget this guy lost a UD to Edison Miranda!

I liked what he had to say about Kessler Froch. If you listen closely you'll notice he was about to say something like "people may be be suprised by how Froch is not overwhelmed by Kessler," the way people probably thought he would be when teh draw was first announced.

To be honest im not even going to listen to what hes got to say.... i dont even think he believes the crap thats coming out of his mouth.

Reminds me of the crap all journeymen say before facing elite fighters on how they will 'win'....

Fact is he can talk all he wants, but he hasnt even done anything to earn a SHOT at these guys, let alone beat them.

He said Linton, McCrary and Simms wouldn't be a problem either. We all saw how those fights went.

Don't get me wrong. Allan Green has talent and he has legitimate punching power. But so far he has not shown that he can defeat a world class opponent.

A win against Ward would be the perfect way for him to redeem himself.

Well kirk, you may have a point on what he's done to earn his spot. I am not going to dispute that.

However, I thought he was a pretty good interview.

He had some interesting things to say.

Agreed, except that, a win over Ward is no easy feat.

    A tall order, indeed.

Even if you forgive him for his performance against Miranda because of his illness.

It doesn't change the fact that he still went life and death against Donnie McCrary, Emmett Linton & Tarvis Simms.

Allan needs that exclamation point (!) win to put himself back on track.

Hopefully (if he gets into the Super 6) he comes into the Ward fight motivated (there will be a title on the line after all) and not taking Andre lightly. If his performance falls flat and/or Ward just completely beats him silly to the point he doesn't appear to belong in the same ring it will just make Taylor's exit seem all the sadder, as even though Jermain had some scary knockout losses and possible health concerns he's still the much better candidate for this tournament than either of the suggested replacements...and would have given Ward a game as hell effort even in losing.

If Green manages to look good against Ward - picking up enough rounds to lose a close decision or even win - it will be very, very impressive and due cause for all the longtime Green supporters to gloat.

Are you guys forgetting Green has to get past Bika??

I think Bika will actually take him too. He is taking him into deep waters and drowning him around the 10th.

Bika has been horribly inactive and struggled with the unexceptional Jaidon Codrington (who Green made quick work of).

It's been reported by a few sources that Green-Bika is off.
