First of all I'd like to say this is not an attack against Boddy Dobbs or anyone on Green's team. I consider myself nothing more then a casual boxing fan. But looking at Green's record I can't help but think his team has been letting him down. Here is why. The Goods: Green's team did a good job to put Green on tv. He's been on ESPN several times and he's also been on Showtime and HBO. This made him become a pretty decent name in the sport. Helping him to get a big fight (Miranda). The Bads: His development his lacking greatly in my opinion. I've notice that Bobby Dobbs often uses the phrase "The belts are on hold in Europe". It doesn't matter if it's true or not. They haven't put Green into position for getting a title shot anyways. He's ranked into the top15 (13th by the IBF) of only one sanctioning body. In 26 professional fights Allan Green has only fought 1 fighter ranked in the top15 (Miranda). He has also never fought for a minor title like the NABA, NABF, etc... He has never fought a 12 rounds fight. How can you prepare your fighter for a big championship fight if he doesn't fight ranked opponent and/or 12 rounds fights? Allan Green 12 rounds fights: 0 10 rounds fights: 8 8 rounds fights: 5 6 rounds fights: 6 4 rounds fights: 7 Minor title fights: 0 Minor Titles won: None World Title Fights: 0 World Title won: None Number of Pro Fights: 26 Total of rounds fought: 111 Compare this to Lucian Bute who just a few months ago was considered a young prospect just like Allan Green. Lucian Bute 12 rounds fights: 12 10 rounds fights: 0 8 rounds fights: 2 6 rounds fights: 3 4 rounds fights: 4 Minor Title fights: 9 Minor Titles won: NABA, NABF, WBC Continental Americas, WBO Inter-Continental World Title Fights: 1 World Titles won: IBF Number of Pro Fights: 21 Total of rounds fought: 117 So who had a better development? Allan Green or Lucian Bute? You tell me!
Agreed, but Green himself needs to step up his aggression level, aside from the famous Codrington KO, he's been pretty cautious lately
the logic is sound. however, maybe Greens medical issues somehow hindered his development. Just a thought.
It's a good thing for Green that the Miranda fight wasn't twelve rounds or he'd been stopped in the eleventh. I do agree with you though. Also I wasn't impressed with the corner work in the Miranda fight.
I read he got majority of his colon removed. Thats ****in brutal, I would think thats a career ending surgery, but I guess its not. I wonder if that was caused by boxing or other things.
Allan Green is fully healthy with guns locked and loaded. He's going to destroy the hurricane and shake up the SM division. Bute, Sweetness is coming 4 U..
Good assesment, it also looks like Butes record of opponents is a little more solid at this point. I'm a big Green fan, it will be interesting to see how he looks against Williams and ho wmuch of th Miranda fight was his medical issues.
In what dimension is Rubin Williams a player at 168lbs? Williams has looked like crap since giving a brilliant effort against Lacy two and a half years ago. You're right that it's a test in the sense that it will tell us if Green is back to his old self after dealing with his medical problems tho.
I agree it will be the toughest bout of of three since he lost to Miranda. Maybe one more small steppingstone and they can look for a USBA, NABF or the like.
If your analysis went a lttle bit deeper you would find that Green's career mismanagement is even worse than what you have already portrayed. He bounces from one division to another and he has not developed a fan base despite the exposure. His handlers are obviously not willing to commit financial resources to properly develop his career.
