Fair play to Groves for not going along with the usual script about how much of 'lad' Dave Allen is, Mind you this will probably be his last time on Sky.
Unfortunately for us staunch boxing nuts we are at the mercy of eastenders afficianados ifl imbecility and all round to mrs brown cretinism._the road is loooongg.
I'll give Allen his due; that was a magnificent bodyshot. Timed well and landed perfectly. Right on the sweet spot. Would've put a lot of heavyweights down for sure. I also thought Browne looked in decent nick and boxed well up until the stoppage so it's a credible win for Allen in fairness. However, he was getting outboxed big time before the bodyshot went in. We also didn't get to see what condition he was in so the question mark remains. Threw a few horrible right hands. If Eddie wants to use Allen for another Saturday fight night headliner, fair enough. Perhaps Allen deserves it after tonight. But my God, do not put Dave Allen on PPV. We all know it's coming though, sadly.
I'm fine with Dave Allen PPV as long as he gets the same lipstick kiss tat on his neck that Browne has.
Well I couldn't pick my nose - had £50 on Browne. Seeing him in half decent nick made me think he'd be too much. Well done Dave Allen though - can't not like him. I thought groves come across well in parts - his view on Allen was refreshing. Whyte on PPV is a f*****g joke.
It was nice for Allen, I like him and I backed him to stop Browne but it was quite obvious as we all know how shot Browne is. Allen was getting outboxed but it was a lovely body shot that won it for him. Sentiment aside now though, what a god awful standard of headline fight and main support. My missus is a casual fan but she thought it was terrible mismatched card and asked me what Hearn was playing at. He did well with the Fowler v Fitzgerald card but that was seriously lacking tonight and an half empty arena said it all. Cordina was a big plus tonight so no doubt he’ll end up on a US undercard next time.
Paul Smith must have had a bet on with his brothers on how many times he could say "it takes two to tango"
Finished work late so just finished watching it now. ..cracking body shot by Allen but a blind man can even see Browne is shot to pieces. .. On another note Chisora Vs Gashi was painful to get through...Gashi is awful. I checked online and it said he has 15 KO wins and it looks like they are all in the first round lmao, is that correct?!?!
I’m surprised they got him back on after his fight with Takam. Takam chased Gashi round the ring for about 5 rounds, barely throwing a shot before he eventually gassed and Takam leathered him. I don’t get why Hearn thought it would work stylistically...Chisora is much more entertaining when his opponent brings it.
I didn’t watch the card tonight, just caught up on the Dave Allen finish so can’t really comment on it but what I will say is what a shot from him. That’s brilliant, something I didn’t know he had in his locker to be honest!
Allen looking in better shape tonight. Great finish. Tbf to Allen Browne turned up in pretty decent shape tonight a good bit better than he did against whyte anyway. Looked decent till Allen finished him with the peach of a body shot. Looked to me like Browne was going to beat him up as well till then.
