I do think that he has some mental health issues but I also think that he's not helping himself one bit with the way that he is carrying on. After the Lenroy Thomas defeat I pretty much gave up on him. He's good at knocking out lower level domestic fighters and unknown foreigners but that's it. Fights with Little, Price, Cornish and Sexton would be alright to watch, interesting I suppose, but put him in with the likes of Dubois, Hughie and Joyce and he gets stopped, schooled or both. He's a fat Northern doorman, nothing wrong with that, it's just not what you need to become a decent professional boxer, especially when he's got mental health issues, discipline issues and, let's face it, he lacks the maturity to make it he's like a teenager at times.
Should read "I will knock Lucas Browne out by 2047" I like Allen but has he forgotten his last fight, when he fought a flabby, no doubt soon to be journeyman, and ended up with a cauliflower head? It will be an interesting fight, three years earlier and Browne destroys him, now I'm not so sure.
The bookies apparently were not impressed by Browne last night because Allen is now 1/2 favorite to win. LOL.
If made, this fight will be like watching a fat ugly couple go at it in a homemade porno. You don’t want to watch it but then you can’t unsee it...
I think once you’re rendered unconscious for several minutes by a huge shot in the boxing ring, you need a very long recovery. At his age, retirement would have been best. Instead (at 39) he’s got in the ring 3 times in less than a year since that KO. His punch resistance will be faded significantly since that KO and he’s going to be fodder, even for Dave Allen cos he will land on that head at some point and if will be nanight.
Agreed. Allen can take a shot, all he needs to do is take Browne into the se6cind half of the fight and his punch resistance will be even poorer and will get stopped. If Browne doesn't knock Allen out early he will get flattened.
I agree. Can’t see Browne sparking Allen or sustaining a barrage of shots to force a stoppage. It’s a retirement fight this and one last purse.
On the flipside, if Allen gets this wrong, what does he do? The more I think about it the more I think Allen can KO him, but then I thought Allen would KO Lenroy and look what happened there. If anything Saturday's fight just puts pressure on Allen, he's going into a fight against a former World Champion as the favourite, he's now almost expected to win by KO. As hard, tough and what have you as Allen is, and says he is, put a bit of pressure on that lad and I, unfortunately, think he struggles.
