Absolutely no doubt in my mind that Allen would K.O. Price. Would be a very entertaining fight though. Price still has pop in his shots and is technically the superior boxer, but as we all know, is an absolute shell of himself. Would predict Allen to ride any heavy shots from Price and then hit Pricey with a big, 'Povetkin-esque' overhand right and end it (or with the crippling body shot that ended Browne). Either way, a very entertaining scrap and would be well up for seeing it, absolute freak show of a fight, but I can't really see Price being able to survive in there for anything over 6 rounds. Just because of how timid he is to throw properly now and how badly he gasses early on in fights.
It's another circus fight. Like last night, neither are going anywhere. I don't give anyone much credit for beating Price, because all you have to do is survive six and it's easy work. He's also not as dangerous early as he once was. In saying all of that, of course I would watch it. Fun fight. Although I wouldn't pay a fiver to do so.
Price knocking Povetkin back, prior to the comical KO, bought him another couple of years on Eddie's shows, but he looked pretty poor against Kash Ali and he's not going to look any better against Allen. What I don't quite get is that Allen has lost a lot of weight but he still looks out of shape, is he really a natural heavyweight?
Will be a fun fight to watch but will more than likely end with Price getting knocked out through exhaustion.
Funny you should say that because I did think the same thing too. He did have a proper training camp though according to himself and did come in at 244, which is lighter than his fights against Ortiz, Thomas, Yoka and Webb where he weighed 258, 250, 260 and 258 respectively. Interestingly though however, he did weigh 237 when he fought Whyte which was almost an identical weight to when he fought Thomas in the rematch. That did throw me a bit not gonna lie. But even with the training camp and lower weight he still did appear to have a bit of a gut on him. I mean he's never going to be cut and shredded so that's probably his natural aesthetic look, but considering by his own admission to not being a particularly large heavyweight by any stretch he must have pretty heavy bones!
That was a difficult fight against Kash, he was being quite negative and was slipping into sparring mode. Pricey isn’t great at dismantling opponents, it seems to take up a lot of his energy throwing them shots. Price tends to have more success when his opponents opens up, takes risks and try to knock him out. We saw a similar thing last night with Chisora...he’s another who likes an opponent to come to him and try and put it on him. Allen would purposely be conservative, high right guard and absorb the shots until Price slowed right down.
Neither Price or Allen deserve to be getting the pay packets they're getting, George Groves was absolutely spot on about Allen last night, finally someone ringside on camera telling it how it is rather than getting sucked into all the jolly Northerner bulls**t.
Pricey needs to consider every fight a two rounder, bombs away from the first bell Kamikaze style. Pretty sure he'd have blasted out both Little and Ali if he'd done that.
It’s a shame both wins weren’t conclusive as he might be being talked about (generally) in more favourable terms. I think he was on the verge of sparking Little and Ali but obviously the ref ruined one and Ali feasted on him like he was halal.
If Price lets his hands go against Allen i reckon he wins. Allen has no defence and Price still has power. If Price fights , like he usually does, petrified, then Allen wins. I favour Allen because Price seems to have no confidence whatsoever once he gets in the ring.
Dave isn’t a big heavyweight he couldn’t do CW imo, he’s too big for CW and a little small in comparison to the big heavyweights
Yeah I hear what you're saying, but he's the same height as the greatest Cruiser of recent times, Oleksandr Usyk. I think with intense discipline, all year round, he could make Cruiser. Usyk was in seriously good condition and made weight, look at all the fat on Allen, his back, his gut, his legs, his shoulders, if that was all trimmed off and he toned up I think he could make the weight, but it would never happen.
