Allow me to educate those who buy in to the glass chin theory.

Stop twisting my words around. I didn't contradict myself, and I don't agree with you. Your use of the word "conditioning" is completely different.

I also have a masters degree in exercise physiology, FWIW. (this very subject has been scientifically studied, and you can find the details in any good university library.)

I've looked for scientific explanations for weak chins.

And they all agree, that glass jaws havent been scientifically proven, and that it really does depend mostly on your health and as Fanning said, how used to being hit you are.

Muhammad Ali was thought to be chinny in his early days. Now he is considered to have one of the best chins in history.

Weight drain probably is a big factor. Miguel Cotto would have been said to have a glass jaw at 140, he was hurt multiple times by B level comp. He was even rocked by Malignaggi. At welter he could take a beating better then anyone.

Same with Khan. Khan took some bombs from Maidana, one of the hardest punchers Pound for Pound and didnt fold.

I think great conditioning and your best weight can have alot to do with the punches you can take.

Dude. I think your completely wrong on this. People with crap defence that get hit a lot can only progress in the sport IF IN FACT they have a good chin. Thats why the pressure fighters at the top of the game can all take good punches. If a pressure fighter with no D had a bad chin he would get knocked out early in his career. People with good boxing skills and a bad chin can last longer in their careers without it getting tested so it may be that they progress further.

Can you post these studies? I've looked on the internet and I cant find anything definitive as to why some have great chins and some dont.

You are the one who twisted my words, and you did contradict yourself. Don't you have to be able to read and comprehend words to get through physiology?

Other than that, you're either nit picking or just a natural dickhead who likes to disagree.

And the thing is, I'm not even completely ruling out his perspective, limited as it may be. I'm simply pointing out the overwhelming general misconception within ESB pertaining to the degree of this one of many factors. People never take in to account all these other factors that have been mentioned, yet are indeed true. Furthermore, they overemphasize "weak chins" while failing to see all these other factors that come in to play and make boxing the science that it is.

Example....when Mosley rocked Mayweather, it wasn't Mayweather's chin that kept him in there, it was his strong legs, toughness, endurance and focus that kept him in there. It all made for a good chin, but it was much more than the actual chin itself that made it a good chin. Another fighter with the same exact physiological make up, same exact skull thickness, and same exact set of jaws with half the legs and conditioning of Mayweather would have been OUT OF THERE!

I seriously wonder how many of these folks on ESB who call themselves chincheckers have either been in the ring or taken a shot to the head.

No, Glass Jaws come from the fact that not all men are created equal in regards to ability to tolerate cranial abuse. Glass Jaws Exist in Boxing. It's irrefutable.

    TS has no Chin. None.:deal:hi:
