As 2013 winds down its good to see that "Normal service has resumed" on the domestic boxing scene. For a while there people lost the run of themselves completely. We had the ridiculous situation whereby Darren Barker was temporarily regarded as a "world champion" on the back of a flap-fest with flapper Geale. Even made favourite against Sturm! :| Mulloker Murray was regarded (by some!) as an invincible world-beater. Now Martin is back at his own level, scuffling with middle-aged Russian roadsweepers. :-( Poor old Matt Macklin - the best of 'em all - was relegated to the ha'penny place! :nut Fortunately as predicted by Uncle Len, sanity was restored and recent results have put all that nonsense right. Lets hope sanity continues to prevail in 2014. Happy Christmas to one and all. :thumbsup
I suspect the "middleweight madness" of 2013 will transfer to the super-bantamweight division in 2014. People will soon be over-hyping the likes of Kid Galahad and Quigg over Frampton the way they over-hyped Murray and Barker over Macklin in 2013......
Whatever happened to the season of goodwill - you know: "love and harmony to all mankind" and all that jazz?
Murray had one poor peformance and you write him off and Macklin lost to ggg the biggest p4p puncher in world boxing, whilst barker has an injury which means he will never box again. you talk **** ya **** do 1
Terry - cop yourself on: Murray had 2 poor performances against KHOMITSKY alone ffs! Totally lucky and over-hyped. Barker was totally over-hyped and conned his fans big time about being fit to fight Sturm. I'm slagging the people who bought into the hype. And where did I criticise Macklin? I'm slagging the people who wrote him off so quickly. I'm a big fan of his....are you drunk tonight?
Some German philosopher said this about people who tell the truth: All truth goes through 3 stages.. 1. Ridicule and sneering 2. Outright aggression 3. General acceptance that it was true all along and self-evident. Guess I'm at stage 2.....
