It does seem that Vitali's return has benefitted Wladimir from the standpoint that he is taking out fighters that Steward may prefer to keep Wlad away from. Vitali has already beaten Sam Peter who fought life and death with Wlad for 12 rounds a few years ago, while being less exprienced. He is now taking on David Haye, who some feel could be a threat to Wlad. Additionally, Wlad was scheduled to fight Povetkin this fall, but I guess Alexander pulled out due to injury or something? Well, instead of rescheduling to meet sometime soon, Wlad is now fighting a respectable but rather crude Chris Arreola.

I don't know, I'm getting weary of some of these Eastern Euro fighters and the way challengers seem to be either avoided or strategically eliminated.

Good fight. The HW division is slowly starting to get exciting. Hopefully Arreola and Haye take out the Klits to make the HW's move a little.

I would love to know what anyone can find wrong with Wladimir fighting the man being billed as the top american contender, as he waits for his mandatory with Povetkin. Wlad has to fight Povetkin within 9 months. There is no way that he is going to get a unification fight by then. Taking on a highly ranked, undefeated Top contender, who is an exciting fighter... AND has already been marketed to the public is a great thing to do in between.

Good lord, Wlad doesn't even get credit for taking on undefeated top contenders who have been providing the fans with exciting knockouts. It just never ends.

I would love to see a fight against Chagaev... but it honestly wouldn't even be a big fight right now, and Chagaev is already scheduled to fight in Feb.

Wlad going ahead and taking Arreola out before they make him a mandatory.

He's taking one mandatory in waiting out, while his other mandatory tunesup for his shot. LOL I like that kind of house cleaning attitude.

As soon as the orgs stamp their forehead *mandatory*, Wlad takes them out! LOL And in this case, even before they stamp him!

I predict Wlad by vicious KO within 3 rounds, if not 2.

Of course, there is the factor of Arreola's power and Wlad's chin, or lack thereof. No one thought that Sanders would stand a chance against Wlad, and look at what happened.

  9. If Arreola is the best American heavyweight prospect, that just goes to show how pathetic heavyweight boxing has become in the USA:verysad
Arreola is just brawler, plodder, fat, soft, and was on the floor in his last fight against a journeyman, and he hasn't proved **** to deserve a shot at Wlad-Arreola -- Toney would be more competitive..
Wlad will KO Arreola in 5 or 6 rounds..
And why in the **** is this fight in LA???:-(

For some reason I see another one sided fight. Chris has to punch or he will get punished. Rahman just didn't have the balls.

I´m a Wlad fan, but this is a sorry ass fight. He should rather get the Povetkin fight out of the way. A really good fight would be to offer Gomez as shot to free Vitali of that mandatory. There are also many other fighters he should rather fight, if you are thinking about worthier opponents instead of more money, like Dimitrenko, Chambers, Virchis, Maskaev or Even Ruiz. Arreola is unskilled and unproven.
