Good post Janitor, I agree, and if I may be so bold, mountain analogies are criminally under utilised in this forum, good to see you putting them to good use, even though I feel Mount Blanc would have been a better fit than the (relatively) tiny Snowdon ;).

Wlad beat his era into submission, into weakness. In the end they only looked as weak as he looked strong.

It didn't help that Wlad and Vitali never fought each other. Wlad's opponents did look weak but I can't see them doing that much better in the 50s/60s/70s/80s/90s, 2010s/20s

Wlad's best victories were against Povetkin or Haye. Both good fighters but just that level or two behind.

    Agreed.
Authentic greats have all throughout history produced eye catching spectacles against undermatched foes. Even if they fought in a weak era , at least they produced entertainment.
HBO loved GGG when he was creaming soup cans left and right. HBO banished Klitschko from their platform a member of times for disgracing the greatest prize in sports.

HBO showed 22 Wlad fights lol which was one of the highest of any fighter in all divisions. But from 09-13 yeah he wasn't fan friendly for them they only showed Haye and Povetkin in that time frame.

Most are when he was up and coming , before he fled to Euro to become an Octopus.
After the Mormeck stinker Sky Sports dropped also dropped him

HBO didn't even show the guy defending the HW Crown. Since he retired all HW title fights have been PPV.

Number of Wlad PPVs on HBO = Zero.

Wilder headlined more US PPVs than Wlad.

Undefeated Pulev, undefeated Chagaev, one-defeat Thompson, undefeated Ibragimov, undefeated Brock, undefeated Peter, Byrd, Botha, one-defeat Chambers.... He had a lot of very quality wins.

Not denying Wlad beat everyone in front of him - and convincingly so. If you did a poll from the 50s in which was the weakest era, the vast majority would say the 2000s.

Haye and Povetkin IMO were a step above those guys listed. A lot of people say the late 70s and early 80s was a tad weak, but these guys Holmes beat/fought in Spinks, Witherspoon, Bonecrusher, Williams, Cooney, Norton, Shavers, Berbick would have beaten these guys in Pulev, Ibragimov, Brock, Thompson, Peter, etc.

Fighters back then were much more fearsome.
