How will it be interesting? Lara has no tools to offer a threat to GGG. He is not a combination counter puncher, he is not adept on the inside. His ring movement forces the fight where Golovkin wants it, and Lara doesn't have enough meaningful punches. He's also going to lack any strength or size at 160 in this matchup.

 

But will Showtime let Lara do it? I seem to recall when this was first talked about that was one of the issues with this fight. I could be thinking of a different event, but I'm certain it was this one where it was something Lara or his network did which made the fight pretty impossible.

 

No , only Sanchez said all that. He doesn't speak for Lara or Showtime. He is the roadblock here. HBO Canelo fought Lara no problem.
Team Golovkin don't want it. Its as clear as day.

 

I'm not really familiar with how Golovkin's matchmaking works; would Sanchez even be in a position to block anything? He talks like he isn't even involved in the negotiation process which would make sense as he just functions as the trainer despite all of the media attention he gets.

One of the things that makes me doubt that Golovkin's people are the ones preventing this fight is because there is no reason for GGG to be afraid of Lara. He doesn't have tools that would really bother Golovkin. The only downside is that Lara doesn't appear to be much of a draw, but neither are some of the guys Golovkin ended up fighting.

 

Finally somebody talks sense with regards to what a slick fighter is!

 

how many times, after lara is brought up, do we have to hear a bumdog fan say "ggg destroys lara easily"???? how many times are you losers going to regurgitate that horrible excuse for a duck???

we don't care....he destroyed dom wade easily....he took care of kell brook easily.....he beat most people easily...how about fighting a guy near your class that most of the world rates?!?!

its the same old garbage excuses over and over "ggg beats him easily"...."tell lara to get in line at 160 like everyone else(even though everyone else didn't)".....these excuses don't fly with sane individuals........lara would be good fight for march/feb provided he cant get jacobs

 

lara, while not the most exciting fighter, arguably has had more exposure than 98 percent of golovkins opponents

 

lara has appeared/headlined cards on regular and premium networks more than any other golovkin opponent by far

 

lara said awhile back that making the fight on hbo wasn't a block....lara has fought on showtime....because that's where al brings him...he isn't contractually bound to them....he doesn't have a fight deal with them.....he works with them on a fight by fight basis....he could go anywhere

these guys jump around from everything "lara don't bring no money he isn't a draw"....you show them how silly that sounds when compared to golovkins resume..... "ggg destroys him anyway"....you tell them how hes as accomplished as any other guy on his resume and hes rated very highly....then its "well the network roadblock thing"....you can tell them that's not an issue and they'll find something else......not once do they ever admit that golovkin SHOULD do something........its just a vicious circle of excuses

 

This is the issue with Lara . Brook wanted the GGG fight so he took the wacky idea of actually having his team contact Golovkins team, rather than trolling about it on twitter

Zou Shiming could say he wants to fight GGG Twitter and he will have done as much as Lara

 

Carried by better known fighters, or in rubbish cards. GGG has transformed into one of the biggest draws in the sport - however low the figures.

at no point did I ever say that lara was a bigger draw than golovkin...I said that lara has had more US tv exposure and headlines more cards on premium and regular cable than any other golovkin opponent.......probably combined.....

So you're saying Golovkin only wants to take fights where there's a greater risk of losing? He career wouldn't indicate that.

Canelo is a much easier fight than Lara. Whats the point of that fight? He wins easily. Whats the point of fighting Jacobs? He destroys that guy..
