I've been doing some light lifting (as in testing out what exercises I like best) for the past few months and decided that I wanted to get into boxing. I want to lift weights and box, but I want my weight lifting to compliment boxing.

Ba basically I just want to lift weights like a boxer, not like a bodybuilder. Lots of pushups and pullups are all I have gathered so far, along with decline situps and twists.

What else can I do in a routine that would compliment boxing? (Yea, other than boxing training)

Running if you want to box, its probably the best thing you can do outside the gym.

If you can't do boxing training IMO you should do as many different sports activities as possible. I think the best thing you can do in a fitness gym is joining the spinning class and things like that.

I don't touch weights, makes you slow. I suggest some aerobic excersises to begin with.

Mmm I can do boxing exercises, this was going to be in addition to it. I was thinking lower weight high rep to add muscle endurance. Something I can do on the days they do not hold training (from what I understand the guy is hella busy, so he only holds classes twice a week. since im new I wanna train in class for a few months)

Ever done rock climbing? Full body workout and its bodyweight training. Do it consistently and long enough you get strong as f00k. Great for boxing as I said its bodyweight strength training.

no it doesn't. if you lift for endurance you gain endurance, if you lift for muscle you gain muscle.

Weight lifting doesnt make you slow it adds strength and power. My lifting has helped me extremely in boxing. Do a lot of leg presses and squats and jumpsquats and those sort of things for your legs because it helps with balance. Do a lot of tricep exercises as it helps alot with your power as well as shoulder presses and upper back. another thing to build endurance is to take a workout bench and stand facing forward on the side of it and jump back and forth twenty times. it helps with endurance. you can also use the medicine ball because it helps alot. there is one exercise when you get two medicine balls and one other person and put one on the ground and pass the other one back and forth while you step over the medicine ball and go to the other side of it each time you catch or throw it. Increase in weight depending on how you feel. The last exercise I can think of is when you get two 3 to five pound weights and just punch very quickly back and forth for thirty seconds or longer. Hope this helps.
