...I must say, having watched nearly every televised fight Miguel Cotto has had, it did not take me long to admire his bravery and crowd-pleasing style.

Cotto is one hell of a fighter, and I've enjoyed watching his fights and I usually pull for him.

This is one of the few times where two fighters I am a fan of are squaring off against one another. Having been a long-time fan of Mosley, I hope he pulls this off, and fraknly, I believe he will.

Being Mosley is older, a loss now probably derails his career, whereas a loss for Cotto probably only constitutes a minor set-back in the grand scheme. He can definitely bounce back from a loss!

In any case, it's ashame one of these brave pugilists has to lose. Both are class acts, and I wish them both the best of luck.

Let us hope we are treated to a Fight of the Year caliber fight as advertised!

    Enjoy all!

    :cheers

i also think Shane will have toomuch class and experience for Cotto , but in defeat it wont hurt Cotto at all, he may become a better fighter after this..

Rums. I think you make excellent points. If Mosley is taken to the wood shed, then he's done. Cotto, if losing badly, is an open book, but would probably learn a lesson and come back better and stronger Ala Joe Louis. He just seems to have too level a head to drop out of sight. If it's a spectacular 12 rounder without domination by either, I say a rematch could happen, but that's unlikely as the winner will go straight for Mayweather/Hatton winner (Mayweathers my pick today). If Mosely loses competitively to Cotto you could be correct, if he can't get a rematch, not much reason to continue, but that's not the nature of the game these guys play (See Evander)

It's possible. I really do believe Shane has the tools to win. If Shane becomes passive and doesn't strike when openings present themselves, he may have some major problems, but if he can stay fairly active, I like his chances a lot.

I have posted this before and I'll post it again.

I'm also a big fan of both fighters . . . but I'm I'll prefer a Cotto victory. Mosley is old and his batch including Bhops, DLH, Vargas should retire for the sake of the sports.

I can't imagine this fight being anything other than sheer excitement. Pure fireworks.
The style match-up is too perfect for words.:nut
I've got a feeling this will become an instant classic.
Ultimately, I expect Shane win on points or late TKO.
But it's gonna be an all-out war.
Other than age, Shane edges Cotto in all departments...speed, chin, athleticism, power, strength, caliber of opposition, etc.
    It won't be easy, though.

It can become terribly difficult to score if Cotto's punches and relentless attacks drive Mosley backwards most of the time but Mosley scores with the cleaner, harder blows and the most pleasing punch combinations - in that case, 7 rounds to 5, 6 rounds to 6 is highly probable like AG11 suggested wisely. But I have seen Cotto very slow getting off and sometimes almost waiting for openings to score big punches and that's when Shane does the scoring with his combination of experience/hand speed/power... My big problem and I like to share that with y'all is that when Shane scores first and wraps him up, heads will come together and Miguel may snap as the going gets tougher and the rounds go by... At the end and if Miguel is behind by general consensus, things can get wacky, blows in the blind side of the ref, retaliations, heads bumping, blood streamin, guys stumbling, ref maybe acknowledging knock downs which are just stumbles and pushes... It's gonna get nasty for real, that is my only certainty!

I'm hoping for fight of the year, but I'm fearing an early ko. Mosley's hands are fast. If he makes Cotto's legs a little shaky early, I fear Cotto may not be able to battle back in this one.

    I hear what you're saying.
These two guys aren't gonna waste time dancing around.
There will be heavy, brutal exchanges, no doubt.
When they go to toe-to-toe warfare, who loses? Who gets wobbled? Which one gets dropped? If Chop Chop had Cotto in trouble...and the average-skilled Torres had him reeling all over the ring...
This one could definitely end early.
Shane is a closer. Just ask Vargas.
