By everyone's judgement this is a 50:50 fight...

This forum seems abit Rios biast.

And everyone who said Alvarado will be bigger.. nope they will enter about the same weight.. with Alvarado having an inch or two height 'advantage'

One big, big factor. Rios is moving up in weight. This in itself holds plenty of questions.

Will his power convert to the new weight?
Will his chin hold up at the new weight?
How will he deal with not being the bigger guy in there?
What happens if Alvarado laughs off his punches?

    Etc, etc.

I've got Alvarado on the upset.

My moneys on Alvarado. Rios looked ok at the weigh-in for a change compared to the last few times. Coming in bang on 140 is a good sign for him too. Can't wait for this!

I think the difference is a little bit of boxing skill and speed with Rios vs no boxing skill or speed with Alvarado. They're both big punchers with great chins so the X factor could be Rios' chin and power not carrying up to 140 and if they don't Alvarado is a bad choice for first fight at 140. If His chin and power carry up then Alvarado is tailor made for him- a guy who fights his kind of fight but at a lower level kinda like Antillon, Rios cryptonite is boxers, cavemen sluggers are his typa dudes.

Stephen Edwards did a good prediction on this on the site that talks about boxing.
Basicly saying that when you have 2 of these types of fighters the guy that does a litlte more on the inside when it comes to defense and dynamics will usually win.
And he thought Rios would win in a FOTY candidate, im going to have to agree with him.

Alvarado just has absolutely no defense.

Alvarado will have his moments. He has a bit of an amature hop in his step and telegraphs the right hand making him a bit predictable and is easily timed. People forget how Rios outclassed and outboxed Anthony Peterson. Rios inside skills are much superior and he is naturally heavier handed. Rios will stop Alvarado in 8 or 9 rds.

Alvarado will eat uppercuts & body shots early & soften to give way by the 6th...
leading to a TKO before the distance.

    Rios by TKO

Alvarado whooped Presscot whoopty doo.Rios by TKO. Stronger and will bring more firepower than Prescott. It'll be too much for Alvarado to handle.

Wouldn't say Alvarado has NO defense :D But what you posted is spot on. On the inside, the guy who puts forth more volume already has an advantage, and further, the one who has more defensive dynamics and developed maneuvers will have his way more often round-to-round. That's exactly the case here; on the inside, Rios is a mature fighter who knows how to get low and duck under looping shots, roll with punches and come back with counters, position his shoulders so as to move his opponent...Alvarado seems more basic and open chest to chest.
