Aside from saying his loss to Mayweather was brutal I'd agree with everything you said.

This is a good fight and Angulo is a live underdog here but its not a ppv main event, if it somehow gets on regular Showtime it would be a very nice fit there.

It's quite annoying that Angulo has had absolutely no tune up for this. He hasn't even had a fight since Lara. It will be a 9 month gap from the Lara fight to the Canelo fight. Someone with Angulo's style should be active.

I personally would have preferred Molina. We will get a more action packed fight with Angulo but Molina would have been a good test.

Good fight for the fans but kinda irrelevant, I wanted canelo-kirkland. Not like canelo suffered any real damage in the mayweather loss he doesn't need a tune up.

Angulo is very dangerous. Wouldn't be shocked if Angulo puts him to sleep. Will test that chin for sure.

    Good fight.

Angulo has chance of an upset but he may be damage goods after the beating Lara gave him upside the head.

Yeah, I'd like an Alvarez-Lara match up and its always good when 2 of the best guys in a division meet but that doesn't mean Alvarez should face Lara next and since he isn't thats a bad thing on Alvarez.

Alvarez is coming off a loss and still taking on a bottom top 10 guy in his next fight.

For all the criticism(largely justified) on Alvarez needing to step up more in his career, that can't be said for his recent fights.

His last fight was against the best 154 guy and fighter in the sport and before that he beat Trout a top 5ish guy in his own right.

So to go from facing two of the best in his division to facing Angulo, probably in most top 10, isn't a bad thing at all.

Maybe over the next few fights if Alvarez and Lara keep winning and they don't meet there could be real criticism laid on Alvarez but for his next fight Angulo seems very acceptable to me.

Other than Trout, how many solid 154lb'ers has Alvarez faced?

And lets be honest here, Angulo looks to be about done. If GB is going to match Alvarez in much the same way they did pre-Trout, and that's what it looks like they're doing with this fight, then I'm saying it right now - we'll *never* see the Lara fight. Never...

I'd put Mayweather as the best 154 guy in the world. Sure his best weight is 147 but two of his last 3 fights have been at jr middle, he has a 154 title or two, and most sites have Mayweather listed as the top guy at 154. Mayweather is the best 154 pound fighter in the world even if he is a better fit at 147.

I don't think Angulo looked like a finished fighter at all in his last fight against the same Lara that a lot of people want Alvarez to face instead. Angulo gave Lara a tough fight and even dropped him a time or two.

I just think Angulo is very acceptable for Alvarez after losing and facing 2 straight top 5 guys. If several fights down the line the fight hasn't happened and Lara hasn't been beaten then it looks bad on Alvarez but not for his next fight.
