He was literally pushed to fight Trout and Lara and strong arguments can be made that he lost to both. Trout knew he was in a no win situation. That was the first and only time a fight has been called in such a manner. Lara was straight up robbed. Kirkland was taken straight out of a crack house and given one month to get ready without his trainer Ann Wolf. That was just a " let me knock you out for a few dollars fight". Angelo was no big prize either. Slow as molasses and on the down hill slide.

With internet and the power media has now they can make you believe the moon is made from cheddar. But most of us already know Canelo is not made from the same cloth of the great Salvador Sanchez or JC Chavez, but he's trying and his resume is still a respectable one. No he's not as great as he's hyped up to be, popular fighters are usually hyped up, great gets thrown around too much especially this day and age, but his career defining fight is yet to come.

WTF? No one pushed for those fights. They were the top dogs in his division and his promoter felt there were better options against low risk high reward fighters, but instead of making a million excuses like other fighters who won't fight top fighter ehem GGG, he said bring them on!

What? The fight was close with Canelo landing the more effective punches all night long, even dropping Trout. If you want to score it for Trout go ahead, but Canelo won on effective punches, not to mention he showes off his slickness.

Straight robbed? Lara was running for dear life from rounds 4 on, and got a cut on his face, was litearlly RUNNING away from Canelo even turning his back on him. It was such a pathetic showing for Lara that he almost lost the opportunity to headline another major card.

And even then Kirkland and Angulo are as good IF NOT better than any fighter on GGGs resume.

    :deal

George Foreman is top 50, easy. Could argue top 25.

Hearns probably falls in top 75, imo.

Canelo has a long ways to go to be mentioned with recent Mexican legends like Morales MAB or Marquez, nevermind JC Chavez or Sanchez.

Let's just enjoy the entertaining fights he usually gives us.

    Yeah.

    Sure.

Because if you're not a Hall of Famer, who cares, right?

    P.S... he's still only 26.

Ramirez just beat a real title holder, and not by a razor thin decision.

Not saying Abe was the shiit at 168, he wasn't, and was recently beat in most ppls estimations by Murray, but, he didn't eek out a controverisal decision as did Canelo v Lara and Trout, Canelo's genuinely solid Ws.

IMO, Martirosyan landed more cleanly and more often than did Canelo v Lara, and Angulo is beyond shot.

Kirkland wanted Canelo prior to Molina and GBP said NO, Kirkland wasn't worth 1 million.
Instead, they wait till he's 210 lbs, offer him 2 mil, then give him 3 months to melt off 55 lbs without the assistance of the only trainer capable of getting Kirkland up for a fight.

I actually like Canelo. He's a solid all around fighter and a genuine top 5 MW.
At LMW, I believe he would suffer vs the likes of Andrade, the Charlos, Spence, Lubin, and realistically, even Lara and Trout.

Not saying he'd lose, but come on Isal....he's 180lbs in the ring. Why hold onto something that doesnt actually exist, simply to maximize revenue, especially considering at 25, he's already made about 40 mil, and even if GGG KO'd him cold inside 5 rds, he'd still be the best MW the moment GGG left for 168.:-:)-:)-(

at least at his age he should be in his best physical form. his stamina will not improve as he ages. his skills might improve but his heart seems not mexican enough so i don't see him becoming a big threat in the future unless he moves up to a weak division. thing is there are big guys faster, taller, and more skilled than him with the same weight.

    We'll see...

There's only so much punishment a guy can do to himself just to fight blown up welterweights. I'm sure he'll be a "middleweight" eventually. Canelo is trash
