Now that we know Shane Mosley will be taking on Saul Alvarez. The fight makes a lot of sense.

As a boxing fan I still fell that if Sergio Martinez is unavaible and Manny Pacquiao unwilling than, Saul Alvarez is a more chalanging oppoent than Miguel Cotto for Floyd Mayweather. Andre Berto had he not hurt himself and beat Victor Ortiz this month would have made a better oppoent than Cotto. For those of you who say that he needs more experance. There is no one at 154 who is going to make him any better. Mosley and Cotto included. What a fight with Mosley gives Alvarez is experance under the spotlight. There is going to be plenty of attition given to this bout. It would not surprise me if HBO did a Face Off and a 24/7 along side of the same for Mayweather/Cotto. This fight is being made to turn Alvarez into a star. Alvarez is the most likely oppoent for Mayweather after he's relesed from jail. Golden Boy is not going to put him and James Kirkland in the ring together if he has a shot at Mayweather.

There is the matter of Shane Mosley. This is suposed to a passing of the torch fight. One last time under the spotlight for Mosley who not long ago was great. A thank you and farewell bout. However it is also to see if he has anything left, or to see if perhapps for one last time he can dig down and pull it out.
I don't think a win over Alvarez would generate intrest in rematches with Mayweather or Pacquiao. It could pay off in a shot against Austin Trout (WBA 154) or Cornelius Bundrage (IBF 154).

I seriously doubt this gets any more coverage or buildup than the Gomez fight did on the last Mayweather undercard. HBO wants nothing to do with Mosley and will only accept this on an undercard.

What has Mosley done to get a title shot?

    This is pathetic, I'm sorry.

Shane don't have the IQ or heart(anymore) of a Morales. Would love to see an unexpected surprising big performance from Shane but I doubt it. He ain't Morales, he ain't Duran(Barkley fight reference).

But he's not going to be giving Alvarez any more spotlight than fighting Gomez did. This idea of parallel face-offs or 24/7s is utterly unrealistic to me.

Nah, I'm just bitching for the moment:lol:. Will see the results to decide if I want to see the fight. I bitched about Morales/Maidana too to be honest so hopefully I'm wrong about Alvarez/Mosley.

Maidana vs Morales wasn't a bad fight. Morales won that fight but got robbed.

1000x better than Gomez. Someone must be on heavy cheap crack to compare even a shot to pieces Mosley to Gomez. Mosley sure as hell won't get knocked down or out by a jab.

 The bottom line is we are all going to watch it...
We''ll soon be hearing stories how great Shane is looking in training and how he had a **** load of problems the last time.
Hell come fight night, we'll be all over it:shock:

I mean either way, we're curious how good Canelo will look against him!
