Didn't want to make two threads so I combined it into one (Long Post). First off congrats to Alvarez for the victory on sat he showed lot of things in his game I did not know were there specifically his defense, With that out the way in no way shape or form did Alvarez dominate that fight and if the scores weren't so wide I'd say a rematch would be in order. My breakdown the first couple of rounds I think Trout edged in the fight based off of activity early on Alvarez simply did not do enough to take the rounds I had trout up 3-1 after four. the middle round were for the most part controlled by Alvarez his defense and clean punching in round 5-9 coupled in with the knock down gave him a slight advantage leading into the championship rounds after 9 I had Alvarez up 5-4.
In my opinion the open scoring really hurt the fight, in the last rounds you could see both fighters really decided to put there mark on the fight I thought they alternated rounds in 10 and 11 with Trout winning round 10 and Alvarez nicking round 11. the last round is were I hated the open scoring because with Alvarez letting his foot off the gas already knowing he had a bogus wide decision he basically seceded the last round to Trout making the fight even on my card with the knock down being the difference 114-113 Alvarez.
Now for how Mayweather fits into the equation, let me start by saying as a fan of Mayweather I'm pretty embarrassed by the fans coming up with excuse after excuse for why Mayweather-Alvarez shouldn't happen when the fight started the thing that jumped out to me almost immediately is not the 170 weight but the 5'7 height and the 70 in reach. Now if Mayweather decided to stay at 147 I can understand but looking at all the reasonable options I think the Alvarez fight happens within two fights but most likely in sept the only fights I could imagine happening later this year were Alexander if he was able to get a big win over Brook seeing as that fight is pretty much off now I don't think Alexander has the time to get a good enough victory to put him in line. Bradley assuming he decided to not be a puppet and force the fight like Alvarez did with Trout and Alvarez,
Stylistically I think Alvarez would be better suited trying to box Mayweather but I simply do not think he has the ring iq/stamina to stay in the fight. Another thing I found my self thinking about was two fights May-Baldomir and May-Hatton, May-Baldomir came to mind while thinking of the how Alvarez of sat would do with May I tried to think of the last fighter that tried to box Mayweather for 12 rds Alvarez has more power with out question but as far as physical attributes and game plan this bout came to mind, May-Hatton came to mind because of the circumstances surrounding the fight if it happens in sept like Hatton Alvarez as recently as a year earlier was afraid of the match up and I think from a physical stand point Alvarez would resemble Hatton/Cotto as well.
From a match-up stand point I think the reasons why I would slightly favor Alvarez against most at 154 are the same reasons why I think he would be out matched in a fight with Mayweather. First off while he has good boxing ability and defense many instances in the fight he was there to be hit a better more accurate more counter puncher would be able to exploit. His stamina many people are over reacting in this area because they expected Alvarez to be more of a brawler so when he showed his patiences and picked his spots they didn't know what to think but if his stamina is really an issue in the later rounds were Mayweather typically takes over would be his undoing. Also his patiences itself trying to wait for the perfect shot against a boxer like Mayweather is almost a fools goal because while your waiting he has the accuracy and defense to hit you cleanly almost every time.
I think the answer in a Potential Mayweather-Alvarez fight lies somewhere in the fights I listed May-Baldomir/Hatton/Cotto like Cotto I think there is a good chance this bout is HIGHLY competitive but not necessarily close like Baldomir I think his boxing ability may lead to him being completely out classed in instances and like Hatton I think his aggressiveness and eagerness to land someting in the later rounds leaves a potential for him to be caught and stunned with a big shot he runs into.

Alvarez hasn't shown consistent enough pressure to be likened to Cotto or Hatton.

just a title man, it's essentially a breakdown of what I saw during sat's fight and how that would correlate with a potential Mayweather-Alvarez bout

I've forwarded this on to the head of the Department of Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for analysis and critique.

Basically he think canelo beats most 154 lb guys because he is quick enough to counter punch them, besides mayweather

Good stuff ts, except for the glaring fact that Amir Khan is now somehow second in line for Floyd's title. So he could very well be the guy to get a (shot). Floyd needs to fight Canelo, (who I thought was thoroughly overrated), but gets credit where it's due. The only people that I can think of who wouldn't want this fight are Floyd fans who think Canelo might beat him.

There are 2 mega fights of Floyd's era that never happened, Floyd/Pacman and Floyd/Martinez. If this fight doesn't happen, then it's plain as day that Floyd is pulling a duck move.

Martinez/Floyd is not a superfight :patsch when? When was Martinez the big option? After losing to Williams in a fun fight?

I'll ask again: When was Martinez the big option? After losing to Williams in a fun fight?

I've read about a theory that the accumulative value of the three angles in a triangle is always 180 degrees. It's just a theory though, like evolution. :think:conf
