More different nationalities of people come to see Cotto while the vast majority of Canelo's fan base is Mexican. I would say 99%.

I'd say they're about the same. They both did similar ppvs with opponents the mainstream doesn't really know.

Cotto has done ppvs less than 300K before and so has Oscar De La Hoya. Everybody knew beforehand that Lara has no fanbase and that's why we were shocked the fight was signed in the first place

Canelo/Angulo(2 fighters coming off losses) did about the same as Cotto/Martinez(2 name fighters coming off recent wins).

Canelo/Floyd did over 2 mill PPVs.
Cotto/FLoyd did over 1 mill PPVs.

I think that's because people thought canelo could win, I know I was stupid enough to bet that lol. Good point about the Angulo fight. I won't dispute that he's a bigger draw.

Canelo has already proven that he's a way much bigger draw than Cotto.

1.) Canelo fighting Floyd broke PPV records.... Cotto fighting Floyd did not break any records.

2.) Canelo fighting Floyd generated more money than Cotto fighting the same Floyd.

3.) Canelo fighting Trout sold over 40,000 seats in an arena.... Cotto fighting Trout sold much less (about 10,000 seats) than one-third of the seats of Canelo-Trout.....Cotto-Trout sold about 1/4 of the seats (about 10,000) that Canelo vs. Trout did (over 40,000).

4.) Canelo vs Floyd Multi-City Tour brought tens of thousands in person to the promotional event.... Cotto vs. Floyd did not nave a multi-city tour cause Cotto is not a big draw like Canelo is.

Its very obvious that Canelo is a way much bigger draw than Cotto.

Cotto vs Lara would have done more.

Cotto has a much better cross section of fans than Canelo and that makes for a better foundation. People will always come to see Cotto but if the Mexicans gave up on Canelo, he wouldn't make a dime in caveman money.

Cotto is not the 3rd biggest draw in boxing. That's Froch.

Ummm, Canelo has already been rocked by Cotto. Jose Miguel Cotto that is, the one that mostly fought at LW.

It seems like a no brainer. There are some brewing network issues though. Oscar has said the fight will have to be on Showtime. Arum seems opposed to working with Showtime.
