Canelo would have too much for him.

Cotto isnt like Lara, hes going to be there to be hit.

Cotto is just the kind of fighter that Canelo would look good against.

 

sometimes you have to get the guys that beat him credit and not blame cotto.... by your theory he should have all losses or all wins depending on if he takes his "magic pills" atsch

 

Cotto is an excellent fight for Canelo. Trout and Lara are good fighters, but they aren't battle tested likd Cotto and they don't have Cotto's fortitude. Lara fought not to lose. The open scoring system resigned Trout to defeat in the latter stages of the fight.

Cotto will come to fight the entire fight. Many great fighters have had to get past that aging HOFer on their way to the top. Mosely was a little too aged when Canelo fought him. He failed against Mayweather. He'll have another chance agaisnt Cotto. Cotto isn't in his prime, but he still has something left in the tank. He's a smart fighter and he's seen it all.

I hope this fight comes to fruition. It won't lack for entertainment, that's for sure.

True, Cotto definitely outclasses him in that department.

 

He looks like he has LOUSY footwork against fighters like Mayweather and Lara. Those guys are nothing like Cotto.

Cotto can stay on his toes for about 3 rounds, but once he slows down, Cotto's defense isn't even that good.

 

I think Lara stops Cotto.

 

I don't think Cotto can run as fast ass Lara especially for 12 full rounds.

 

They're both there to be hit, Cotto's boxing is better than Canelo's. Who hits harder is toss up now, Freddie has got Cotto putting much more power into his shots with the stamina regimen to back it. Canelo probably takes a better hit, so the question of will Cotto be able to control the fight with his jab remains. If Cotto can still control the fight with his jab, he wins comfortably, if he can't, we have a war in which Cotto will have to use boxing to evade hard shots and set up his own. I think it's possible Canelo controls the fight with body punching to win, but overall, I lean toward Cotto to win.
