Iam not saying your wrong or iam right ive just never seen anyone walk through gggs jab and that was what impressed me most, its basically a power punch lol. I found it interesting that the majority of active fighter thought canelo won yet most boxing fans thought ggg, i wonder if the corruption of the first fight swayed people in the second, wanting justice for ggg.
Yeah that is interesting. Like were fans saying who they wanted to win instead of who they thought won? Or were boxers saying they thought Canelo won because they had an agenda? For sure both men are tough as nails and have iron chins.
Fair enough mate, I can see why a lot of folk gave the 2nd fight to Canelo, he boxed brilliant at times. I simply gave it to GGG because I thought he won more rounds.
Jabs can be effective, but the vast majority of the jabs from Gennady in the rematch were not hard or effective. Gennady wasn't using the jab to set up other punches, he was just jabbing. We've seen Ali win rounds by just jabbing, but those kinds of jabs are of a different quality and effectiveness than what Gennady was doing vs Canelo. A key part of a jab is to use the jab to keep your opponent off of you, to prevent your opponent from getting close enough to land big punches. A jab is only as good as how much it limits your opponent from scoring big punches. In the rematch Gennady's jabs didn't dissuade Canelo from getting into range and opening up on the inside. Canelo was still able to slip many of them and most of those that landed were not hard. You also need to remember that Canelo was fighting a come-forward style to prove a point. Canelo was coming right at you, it's not hard to jab somebody who is doing that, but it was still hard for Gennady and the reason is because of Canelo's elusiveness even while coming right at you by using movement to get around incoming punches and be right in position to land a big shot. Gennady's jab didn't stop Canelo from doing that. When Ali jabbed he was so fast that you couldn't hit him. With Gennady he was jabbing but he couldn't stop Canelo from landing. When it comes to who outworked who in the rematch it was clearly Canelo who outworked Golovkin. He outworked him on the inside, by throwing more hooks, uppers, body punches, etc while Gennady was just jabbing.
I don't disagree with much of what you said, however that 'jab' of GGG was a big factor in why the majority of viewers had him winning. Triple G was trying to use the jab to lure Canelo walking onto big shots. Yes Canelo had plenty of success, however he would have had a whole lot more if G wasn't effective with his jab.
I had Golovkin winning 8-4 both fights and I had the second fight as a clearer win than the first. The quality of the punches Golovkin landed were simply of a higher level than in the first fight. He was rattling them off of Canelo in combination. Canelo fought a brave fight but ultimately fell into the same sort of hole that he tried to lure GGG into in the first fight.
Lol, nice try..He isn't hiding somewhere ashamed of himself..Leave that to the disgraces you mentioned...
It was a big factor, it just wasn't enough to keep Canelo off him. To win rounds with only throwing a jab, you can't be getting hit like GGG was vs Canelo in the rematch. It wasn't so much a strategy to lure Canelo in, it was a reaction to Canelo deciding to come forward. Canelo did that to prove a point, to fight the way GGG and many fans wanted him to fight in the first fight. It was clear after the first fight that two of the judges were not rewarding Canelo due to his backwards motion, two judges were rewarding GGG for coming forward. Canelo did an incredible thing by fighting to GGG's strengths in the rematch and finding a way to win. It was a legendary performance to beat someone at their own game like that and to reduce a so-called KO artist to a backwards moving jabber. It was like the opposite of SRL Duran 1 and 2. "The majority of viewers" do not include the spanish speaking community, do not include all of Mexico many of whom do not have internet access or participate in the so-called online forums that had GGG winning. A lot of that "majority" are simply GGG fans who are dedicated to voting in online polls.
