He beat A level top 3 p4p Whitaker. If you say Oscar got a gift win, well many say Trinidad got a gift win over Oscar. <<<So pick cause either way Oscar did beat an A level fighter.

 

Watch Whitaker's fight prior to facing DLH. He got schooled for 10 rounds against ATG Hurtado, before landing a lucky shot and putting Hurtado away. :nut

You cant tell me based on watching the Hurtado fight that Whitaker was legitly a p4p'er any longer.

 

Wow so you based on that to show whitaker wasnt a top 3 p4p prior to facing oscar? Lol stfu. Every great fighters has bad nights it happen but the most important thing that fighter wins no matter what and whitaker did but win by tko in which whitaker wasnt even a big puncher lol. And in that fight whitaker was moving forward being the aggressor in which i dont understand that.

 

Even the two fights prior to Hurtado, Whitaker was gifted a decision against Rivera, and won a close decision in a rematch.
The signs of declline were already showing going into the Hurtado fight.

Starting with the DLH fight, Whitaker did'nt win any of them.
If Whitaker had a bad night vs Hurtado, he had several before and after!

 

This fight was BS. Another attempt by GBP to continue to hype Ginger.

Another thing that people needs to understand (and Im not taking anything away from Lopez) is that he won based on a discualification, an injury discualification.

In all reallity Ortiz was winning the fight until he got his **** craked and was unable to continue. That happens, its boxing. Cotto broke Maggalini's (SP?) jaw as well, and has happend 100s of times in boxing. But Ortiz was pounding on Lopez.

We didnt need Josesito vs Canelo much less to get beaten like a heavy bag.

BS fight.

 

I think they should have put Canelo in with K9 Bundrage instead of Lopez. At least K9 is a natural 154 pounder with some credible work to his name. In many ways K9 would have been the most accomplished fighter on Canelo's resume, while he wouldn't have offered up any more of a threat than Hatton, N'Dou, Cintron etc. It would have been minimal risk for considerable reward.

 

As a few already said...what is the Prob? 1) The date was set for sometime. 2) 3 other fighters where set to fight Canelo first, but because of Money, Injuries, and a loss they where left in the weeds. 3) Lets be real, Lopez knew going in he was in for some SH**. But unlike other fighters he came as a pro and gave it his all. He knew the chance to win was going to be slim. I don't have a prob in how the Main Event went down. If Lopez was the first pick before anyone else, then Ya there wouldv'e been a prob. Lets not forget, this was a stacked card with some great action. So the fans that paid for thier ticket got something that you don't get much in boxing.

 

Blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda. GBP wanted Williams (accident), Kirkland (sued GBP to join 50c) and Ortiz (upset), the card was as good as it gets with all those names falling out, with Lopez being the only one available in the short period of time.

I like Josesito and I love how he comes to bang but No disrespect and Im not taking anything from Josesito's effort or heart agains Ortiz or Canelo but he didnt "beat" Ortiz. As a matter of fact Ortiz was winning the fight.

The fight was a ****ing disgrace. Canelo achieved nothing by beating the **** out of Lopez, it was a completely meaningless victory. He's not getting the experience needed fighting guys from his own division and when he does I hope he gets sparked out cold.
