Kid has potential but he needs to fight some real 154lb boxers and step up on the quality!

    Cool.

Although I doubt there's any truth to this. GBP are obviously going to keep Canelo out of harm's way to keep that Cotto fight in May 2013 alive, but they wouldn't take the **** by throwing in another JWW in with him. It'll be interesting who they do pick, though. It'll need to be a respectable, but winnable fight.

Kid is only 22 years old brother, calm down. When Cotto was that age he was fighting the John Browns of the world on PPV undercards. You have to start from somewhere. It's good to have these kinds of fights to build up the fan base. Sure are they compelling to the boxing world? Of course not, but like I said the kid is young, he's going to be in this boxing game for a long time.

I like Maidana, but the dude's power has barely carried up with him to welterweight, so how's this a smart move on his behalf?

Absolute pathetic post. Alvarez is the WBC Champion of the world for almost two years now. If he was old enough to win it he is old enough to defend it against the best of his division as any Champion would.

When u think about it, potentially there is betting money to be made with Canelo too as he is guaranteed to win. It's time to wack on some healthy bets!

The WBC has always been pathetic, and corrupt. Don't try to put meaning into that meaningless belt. It's 2012, it's not 1984 anymore. :verysad

Can YELLOW has yet to fight a legitimate junior middleweight contender ! The losestwas a washed up Cintron comming off of a loss to Paul Williams ! The kid is a major hype job ! i cannot believe that people buy into the bull**** ! Miguel Cotto will destroy the joke , if they ever make the fight ! The chicken talking abut Mayweather is a joke ! He even called out Marquez , a lightweight at one time !! **** Can - YELLOW !!

Its the principle of being matched competitively that is the point.

This is what I was talking about in another thread. GB did great ratings with Alvarez against a 140lb fighter, so now that gave them the green light to keep matching Canelo with more undersized saftey fights.

Maidana looked too small against Karass at 147, now move him up another division for an even better fighter? This is ****.
