Alvarez vs Trout

Yep. I'm curious about Alvarez's activity. I think that's the big question mark regarding the fight. Trout is a good mover/boxer, and it's not just Alvarez's feet that need to be in the fight. I'm more worried about Trout's range & activity against Alvarez who likes to take long spells of rest and fight far too sporadically. For all the differences between Alvarez & Cotto, Cotto appeared to press and push in ways Canelo never has had to. Alvarez won't be in his normal comfort zone from the get to and hopefully he knows and understands that.

A sneaking suspicion of mine as well.

 

Questions in this fight that no one can really be sure on:

Can Trout absorb Canelo's power shots?

Can Canelo cut the ring off on Trout effectively enough to position himself to do damage?

Can Canelo up his workrate if he sees he is being outpointed by Trout?

Got to say, I'm way more impressed with Alvarez than Trout as a fighter, but at the same time, Alvarez does seem to have that Jose Luis Lopez quality about him with an underwhelming workrate which could see him in trouble against high activity, granite chinned boxer/punchers of a lower overall class..

I'll back Alvarez in to win 7 rounds to 5, possibly stopping Trout late, depending on if Trout can withstand the flogging he will receive. Got no real idea if he can.

 

I like both as fighters...I like the mindset of Trout. A good guy to root for it seems. Really enjoyed the breakdowns...and feel Classic can be a good place to talk style match ups on the modern game too.
But with that said, I think Canelo takes this. I see the point that posters have mentioned earlier about Trout's movement giving Canelo trouble while he tries to get set. If Trout is able to do this and keep Canelo turning, he wins...Trout will find Canelo easier to hit than Cotto, and he will try to force a faster pace than the younger fighter wants. But that is the tricky part...Canelo for his part will try to counter Trout's jab with a left hook and aim right hands to the heart when Trout is close...I think Canelo comes out on top in the exchanges in timing Trout when he is trying to impose his own strength and pace.
Canelo decision. Canelo's low output, typical approach still wins here...the power difference is the key.

 

I have to be honest I haven't really studied Trout that much but what i have seen of him hes competent and efficient. but one mistake he has is that he is open to the upper cut... alvarez wins this UD

Canelo by 11th round tko.He will make trout look like he belongs on ESPN Friday night fights.Everyone will jump ship and claim he's a bum completely nullifying canelos victory.

Trout is a solid fighter and one of the better technicians at 154. He beat Cotto, tho for me a shell of Cotto, still a good win. Canelo's power abit overrated, but he's a good combination puncher and body puncher those 2 things should give him the edge over Trout. Trout has a very sneaky left hand that I'm almost sure will spell trouble to Canelo who I think isn't at his best, but Trout should be a good lesson for him should he win or lose. If he can't beat Trout he can't beat a Floyd or a Maravilla.
