Alvarez wouldn't be easy work for Cotto at all.

Cotto hasn't beaten a quality fighter since Mosley and that fight could have went either way. Two of his last three wins were against guys with one eye and one leg. He lost eight rounds to a guy at 147 pounds and he had a decided weight advantage. He has more ring savvy and experience in big fights than Alvarez but Alvarez has all the other advantages. In addition, Cotto is known to fade as the fight goes on. I could see Alvarez bludgeoning Cotto badly. Conversely, I don't see Cotto winning more than three rounds due to how Canelo would tear his body up.

you're not giving miguel enough credit. he's a smart, savvy warrior and he would frustrate canelo. if he could frustrate canelo for 12 rounds, I doubt it. I see canelo eventually catching up to him but cotto would give him a great fight. he just went to war with the best fighter in boxing, give him a little more credit man.

    Cotto knocks Alvarez out.

If the fight is somehow signed, I'll put life time ban bets on the table :yep

Cotto has until the 7th to get Canelo out, Cotto will gas from Canelo's amazing body

work. Then Canelo will crush Cotto, as Canelo doesn't gas. Watch Canelo lay the

    body work on Mosley.

I agree, cotto's will always be a lil shaky,we know it was a great fight with floyd, but margarito still gave him a tough fight and lured him into war.Styles make fights and i think cotto will get out gunned in a fight with alvarez, because canelo can punch and he's fresher than cotto,it will be a great fight and i wanna see,but i think canelo wins the war.

Alvarez would KO Cotto or at the very least stop him via TKO.
I like MC he has given us some great fights & dude is a warrior...

But his style is made for Canelo.
Alvarez would lure Cotto to sleep by allowing Miguel to lead, Alvarez is very patient which IMO is his best asset. Anyway... Left hook ends it all.

Some of you are seriously under rating Miguel Cotto.

He looks very complete at 154lbs. He can move, box, body punch and put combinations together. Pedro Diaz is very astute both technically and tactically and Alvarez still makes mistakes. You don't think Cotto could exploit them?

Also, the jab of Cotto would be the key. Alvarez has not yet fought someone who is capable of dictating the fight to him, I.E Alvarez's whole career has been fought on his terms, I doubt he'd be the general in this fight.

Cotto doesn't have the greatest chin, but he withstood much pressure from Margarito's iron fists and Pacquiao's roided athleticism

Your conclusion is correct but I think your reasoning for it is terrible. Alvarez won't be easy for Cotto but it isn't because Cotto isn't good or is too faded, far from it. Cotto isn't what he was but he is still better than the vast majority of fighters out there, Canelo is young but he is talented and is progressing well for a 21 year old.

The fight will be closer than a lot of people think if it does happen (which I doubt to be honest). Canelo is a lot better now than when he fought Cottos brother and the more he fights, the better he is getting. Cotto still has a lot to give (if he wants to) he looks motivated and rejuvinated a bit by his new trainer.

I would favour Cotto over Alvarez if they fought in Sept on the basis that Cotto has a big edge in experience which I think would see him through but I don't see the one sided ass kicking a lot of guys are predicting.

Canelo is too strong for Cotto imo, and Cotto is already past his best and would lose to this guy.

Diffent fight than mayweather, because canelo is bringing pressure with power and precision punching.I think the days of mayweather, cotto and pacquiao are over and these young prime fighters are taking over.
