If he's getting rocked like this by gatekeepers, just wait til he has to face the top level guys.

I don't think it has so much to do with his chin.He just didn't see the punch coming

Well, we will see when he starts facing better fighters. But getting wobbled by an aging gatekeeper moving up from the lighter weights is NOT a good sign.

He's 19 and was clocked clean by a tough old veteran. Don't read too much into it.

Kind of makes you wonder since Cotto is really a natural LW and fat welter.

One thing in Alvarez defense though is that Cotto caught him with a great shot and most guys would have went down with that one.

Cotto is an old/small veteran, yeah anyone can get rocked but will his chin stand up to topnotch fighters in the division.

This is my point exactly - if he's getting rocked by mediocre, lighter weight guys, what's gonna happen when he starts facing top level guys who are at his weight.

As far as your second statement, that's pure speculation. The only thing we do know for sure it that it put Alvarez on ***** street. Not a good sign.

THat was a clean shot though and as almost anyone who has fought before will tell you is that when your a hit on the button"even by a smaller fighter" you can go down.:yep

The most important development of last night was that Alvarez took everything Cotto had to offer and came back to win. A sign of a maturity.

I think the stage fazed him and he wanted to make an impact. He was desperate to put on a show and took a couple of unnessecary shots. There's no reason to worry though. He took plenty of shots and was rarely hurt so he looks solid enough. Just needs to refine his defensive skills a bit.

I think he made a great adjustment after that punch..He kept his right guard high the rest of the night...Many top notch fighters can't even make the simple adjustment.

    Great Job by Canelo!

We will see as he moves up. But this fight has to raise some questions about his punch resistance.
