According to Zakman, any fighter that has every been even stunned has/had a bad chin.

Alvarez if quite impressive at 19 already. He was obviously a bit nervous the first round but never lost composure.

I love his precise, accurate punching.

True. He didn't get hurt by anything else during the fight. People think that a fighter's chin is suspect if he isn't a prime Mayorga or Tua!

he was caught mid punch with his chin up in the air, hardly suspect.

Some people think even Mayorga has always had a "suspect" chin!

And I've seen ESB posters state without a shred of irony that either Klitschko knocks Tua clean out, cold, for a ten count.

One of the things that impressed me about Alvarez is that he is able to use the shoulder roll with some measure of success!

The kid isn't even in his prime yet, of course he's going to have to work on things. That's why he's a prospect. Just give him some time.

I was more impressed with his toughness than I was concerned about his chin. He was really taking a pasting in there, but he took it and came back strong.

That punch came from the ****ing floor and caught him completely cold, he didn't have a clue it was coming - it was just one of those shots.

He dug in, gutsed it out and managed to start dominating the guy a few rounds later, I think his chin has been "tested" and "approved" on the basis of that.

Whenever a guy throws a punch from the floor and lands it, if the other guy doesn't go down, he's got whiskers.

DAmn the mexican boxing landscape must be empty if this kid and Victor Ortiz are the future. LOL. The kid is 100% pure hype.

Really, you saw him fight for 9 rounds and could not discern any good boxing qualities in the 19 year old kid.

Are you blind or just a hater?

I saw him get a very generous gift bail out when he was punching air and getting countered by a blown up LW. I saw him get rocked by a FW lightweight. I saw him get repeatedly touched to the body by previously mentioned blown up LW. I saw him land cleanly but not exhibited the supposed power he is claimed to have. Overall he seems like a good kid, but nowhere near ever being a world class talent. The hype around him is excessive and I see it destroying him. I also see a kid who won't have a long stay at WW, he'll probably end up a 154 fighter and I can't see him beating any of the current prospects in that division, at least not the upper tier ones.
