Yup according to Sherdog Almedia got injured and the 106 fight with Fitch was canceled and apparently so was Alves vs Paulo Thiago. I cant wait to see this rematch.
Yea i just saw it in yahoo sports. This should be a good fight. I hope alves can get his revenge on fitch.
I wouldnt mind seeing Alves win simply because id hate to see him suffer 2 consecutive losses while Fitch is coming off a pair of wins and owns a win over Alves. Then who knows once GSP finally leaves 170 those 2 could fight a 3rd time for the belt which is possible because I dont even think its up for debate that Fitch and Alves are the 2nd and 3rd best at 170.
Fitch by decision this time. I think he'll grind Alves out and make him uncomfortable if he fights smart. I'm sure Alves is coming to get revenge but I'm with Fitch all the way. He's the 2nd best fighter at 170 behind GSP IMO.
Sucks for Paulo Thiago too. Poor guy has probably been trading like a mad man for Alves. At least he'll probably get an easier opponent now
Huge fight, the two clear cut best fighters in the division outside of GSP. Alves' takedown defence is much better now than when he fought the first time, I would still slightly favor Fitch though. Winner should get a title fight obviously, even if it's not GSP's next fight; you need to reward guys for taking fights like this, it's a big part of what makes MMA great.
