If you watched a handful of his fights ignoring the last 2 he beat some great names and dominated them, moved up, was robbed and this wasnt Kovalev vs Ward robbed where it was razor close but the odd person scored it hilarious wide for Kovalev and cries robbery. or a Juan Diaz vs Paulie malignaggi which was clearly a **** poor decision but still a 7-5 fight. the first fight chocalito won 8 maybe 9 rounds while not looking overly impressive. then the second fight all his confidence gone he was getting beatenup and looked discouraged was knocked down by a 5 punch combo that ended with a right hook. he was clearly badly hurt maybe just not badly hurt enough to stop the fight, but it was clear he was going to get blasted in a second. Reasons like this are why Refs stop fights "too early" if you are hurt badly to the head like that the next punches will be life altering even if not by a power puncher because you're going to be hit super clean.
This x 1000 Fans wonder why more great talents don't take great risks, meanwhile there are all too many jackoffs willing to tear down those who do if there's even a tough fight, let alone a loss or a few. Some are mentally deranged enough to wait years for this, like a champion losing after years of being on top somehow negates all the good and justifies their idiocy.
Of course he did ffs point is Gonzalez is an ATG and people just love to **** on anything and belittle his career.
There has to be some merit to my statement! If not, there would be many more multi weight champs in the lower divisions. I do umderstand your reasoning. I haven't done the math, but I'm curious to see the body weight percentages of the lower weights compared to middle weights and higher. For example, is moving from 105 to 108 comparable to moving from 160 to 168 in body weight percentage?
Gonzalez' problem was that he went up too far in weight. He was never the same after he moved up..................
I'm sure he sparred with heavier opponents and one has to assume that he felt he could handle the power. Maybe he wasn't counting on the opponent constantly using his head as a third fist with ref approval.
