Obviously Hayes confidence is going through the roof. He has stared himself blind on Wlads loss against Sanders and expects to be the next one to steamroll Dr Steelhammer. Lots of boxingfans seems to envision the same scenario. Flaschbacks prediction threads Khan-Maidana anyone? Am I the only one around that suspects that Wlad will be able to take a couple of punshes and simply throw back? It is not like Sanders is the only opponent that has ever been landing on him. If it shows out that Haye can't manhandle Wlad like he is nothing but a big girl, won't that mean that he is pretty ****ed against the better workrate and jab from Wlad? :think
my take? wlad used to have strategy + panic problems, not a weak chin. since he has calmed the f*ck down and learnt how to implement an effective strategy, he has eliminated his problems. he's not protecting a weak chin. he occasionally gets hit flush on the chin and takes the punches pretty well. for what it's worth, i'm not particularly interested in him as a fighter, just think he's pretty solid all round. just for a ballpark comparison... does anyone remember the hype before tua lewis? plenty of people thought if tua landed it'd be all over. and we know how that fight went.
That is also how I see it. I don't underestimate Hayes chanses, he is a dangerous ****. But all predictions about Wlad going down seems to rely on him beeing a complete *****, which is a bit daft in my opinion.
yeah haye is definitely very dangerous, but wlad's a good boxer. that's the appeal of this fight. a shame that people don't seem to understand the subtleties of it all, but then that just adds to the hype!
I think Wlad has legit chin problems, it isn't a slight against him but just a fact. Now with Steward he has a safety first measured style that maximiazes his strengths and greatly protects his weakness and there is nothing wrong with that.
fair enough, we'll have to agree to differ. i for one want to see him get cracked on the chin by haye, numerous times, whether he falls down or takes it!
Peter at his best was a harder puncher than Haye and a much more aggressive fighter. He hit Wlad with some big shots and couldn't knock him out or finish him off. That's the Wlad Haye will be facing, if not a little more improved version. I can't see Haye hurting that Wlad enough to knock him out with one punch myself.
I am not sure Peter hits harder than Haye, but he defenitly was the kind of guy that tries to run over his opponents by sheer force, and he did not mind to take one in order to be able to give one. I just did not get him anywhere.
Sorry but from what I have saw on this website, very few people are picking Haye to win, let alone steamroller him out of there. As a man that doesn't give two shits about either one of these guys, I can unbiasedly say that I think Haye knocks him out by using his better speed, good footwork and head movement and great power. I don't really see how Haye is just going to plod forward and let himself be jabbed all night. Wlad bores me. Haye annoys me. I look forward to the fight but I don't really mind who wins or loses. But I believe Haye will win.
This post. Also Rahman - Lewis II and Golota - Lewis and Tyson - Lewis Rahman, Golota and Tyson were supposed to steamroll Lennox. We all know the results. Haye is going to geta heavy knockout by the hands of Wladimir.
Lewis was favourite for all of these fights. In fact heavy favourite. In what way was he 'supposed' to be steamrollered?
lewis was favourite just like wlad is favourite for this fight. people gave rahman, tyson and especially tua a good puncher's chance against lewis, just like people are giving haye the same chance, and for the same sort of reasons (lewis and wlad suffered early ko losses).
